dealer free safety check (skoda)

Featured Replies

hi I had a  letter from the dealer where I bought my new monte dec 2012 (Derek slacks Teesside) inviting me for a free safety check I have it booked in for wed 17th of this month is it a con or what (after watching bbc tonight your money their tricks)im now a tad reluctant   the car is on three years free servicing any one out there had the same offer from their dealers and had a check done they want the car for around about 1 hour thanks

Costing you nothing it is 'Free',

& if anything is found needing doing you can ask what & why. Is it covered under warranty,

& you are not obliged to have work done by them if it does not suit you.

Just do not look at other cars if you are there an hour, unless you were intending changing cars.

Its just a way of trying to drum up some business.

Can't blame them in the current market, at least they are pro active.

It's  not a con per se but they are just looking for anything they can offer to fix.

Being a safety check you can expect shrill comments about the wear on your brakes, age of your shocks blah blah blah.

On an 8 month old car they will hopefully comment on the terrible state of the exterior rust on the rear drums,

because VAG would prefer not to spend 3 Euro on a decent coating on them,

& maybe they can comment on the corrosion and grooving on the discs after only one winter.

(or actually before the car even got through the PDI.)

But being a Skoda Dealership that is unlikely,

that is just par for the course and 'only cosmetic sir'.
