Why you should avoid cheap spacers!

Featured Replies

Wowwww,

I stuck some 10mm spacers on the front of the Fabia a few months ago. I had nothing but bother with wheel wobble, noise etc.

I took the spacers off yesterday to find these remaining:

They were fitted properly and I had my wheels balanced and tracking etc done. I didn't expect them to be utterly dangerous!

Yep, Never buy cheap.

Glad you got them off in time!

Wow, what make are they? There not creation motorsport ones by a chance are they.

Spacers are such a pet hate!

I'd be paranoid going round any corner with them fitted.

I bet they are creations motorsport ones?

They are completely crap

Not sure tbh lads, just say 'Made in Germany'... I suspect they weren't, possibly in a shed in Sunderland :P

They should be expensive as they have the "self weight shedding" I suppose your wheel would never fall off as the bolts are holding the wheel and the spacer to the hub.

BUT, I would expect them to be a little more robust than your pictures suggest.

Nope. They're made in the West Country. Specifically HERE

I had universal 5mm spacers on and had nothing but wheel wobble under braking. Took then off the fronts now

Come on Kiddy, that's not fair on the Shed

Hahahahaha I'm bumping this because same thing happened to me!!

After a long and childish argument on eBay which wasn't over the spacers but more over this

That's about 10 weeks after fitting, and they had the cheek to blame me for using chemicals to clean my wheels! Which of course makes perfect sense to strip off the 3 layers of FK1000 after the effort of applying it lol!

Swap me for my standard wheels then, job done ;)

I had an idea the other day, I do fancy a wheel change but unsure if the will clear my brakes, even after shaving :(

Are bolt on's better or bolt through types? What do people recommend?

i don't understand how that could happen to a spacer? i guess that must be the heat from the brakes that's made them go like that

What brakes you got mate

I had bolt on 20mm ones and they were awesome! Bolt through ones are fine so long as you stay away from Creation Motorsport and their Micky mouse metal! Even my Dad laughed when I showed them to him!

312mm ones mate.

I prefer bolt through type

Personal preference

And yes do not buy cm ones (trash)

What wheels you thinking of getting? If you ever get rid of these let me know!!

I fancy BBS RX2s mate, you'll be the first to know :)

I haven't had any trouble with my £60 20mm bolt on ones from eBay, had them on for the last 2-3 years
