  • Here we go....some pics.   Been playing with the Canton settings this morning, sounds really great

  • I have also tried both, and could not feel the BIG difference between 1.4 and 1.8. But wife "demanded" 4x4 and DSG so the only option now was the 1.8.

  • And yours came with the chrome window surrounds. Looks nice, congrats!

That's a shame, hope that will change soon. But you can get the 1.8 with 4x4, though?

Only 4x4 in UK is 1.6tdi and 2.0tdi Manual at the time? No dsg?

Actually neither 1.8TSI nor 4x4 with anything is currently present in UK on available price lists. That also means no 6 speed DSG available.

And no multilink rear suspension on estates except vRS, as that options is only available to 1.8TSI.

We also had no 4x4 Octies FL including Scout for over a year. :(

It's a bit like that "in Soviet Russia" joke. Skoda UK tells us what we can drive.

it looks just like the one i have ordered ;-) i went for the 1,4 instead of the 1,8. my dealer gave me the 1,8 as a loaner for a week, i think the difference is too little for the money.

Are you both serious?

There is only a little difference between the 1.8 and 1.4?

There is also little difference between the 1.4 and 1.2.

That must mean there is only a little difference between the 1.8 and 1.2 - I don't think so.

I think people buying the smaller engines are trying to fool themselves by saying that there is only a little difference to the next size up engine to make them feel better.

BTW,

What fuel economy are you getting from your 1.8?

  • Author

Regarding the fuel economy, obviously not yet run in, on a recent long trip of 450 km it indicated 49 mpg.

Did only have a short test drive of the 1.4 in April, but comparing my new 1.8 180 to my old 1.8 160 there is definately a notable difference in power....for the better of course :)

Still extremely pleased with the car!

Looks good pal.

I'm gutted with VAG's engine line up in the UK.

You can get a 1.4 with 120, 140, 160 or 180HP outputs but in the Octy you only get 140.  I would have had the 1.4 if they had done it in the 160 version (minimum)

And you can't get the 1.8 (yet) in the UK!
