All my windows stopped working

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have an 2002 octavia ambiente and all the windows are in the up position and won't go down even if I turn the key in the door. There's no noise when any of the window switches are pressed.

I don't know if this has any connection but the switch for the driver window was reversed up was down etc..?

also the central locking seems to be acting up, one of the rear doors not locking with central locking.

I've checked every fuse to no avail also checked wires at door rubber for corrosion/broken wires but was all ok.

I did a bit of research and it sounds to me like central convenience module or central control unit ???

Can these be picked up secondhand, and would it have to be coded with a vagcom to work??

Sorry I'm a newbie on here and I'm desperate to sort this, it's 28 degrees outside and I have to drive with the driver door open for some air (no air-con)

It's been so hot these past few days I can't use the car if it's been in the sun.

Don't have the spare cash to get ripped off at the stealers either.

I would appreciate any comments or advice you have to offer.

Thanks in advance

Edit:

I've just replaced the convinence unit under dash and the problem is still there. no difference ?

Have yet to have it scanned will get it done monday hopefully it reveals the problem.

have you tried unplugging the master switch on driver door? if its corroded internally it may have activated the windows lock,

which will stop the other door switches working... it may be something that simple... worth checking if you havnt?

Ok so I removed the switch and no difference rear and passenger windows not responding.

I replaced the switch with a working unit from a diff car and still nothing.

When I was driving yesterday the doors were locking and unlocking on there own.

there's definitely a short somewhere then...

may have to strip the door down, to check the wiring in the door.

only just copped u said the driver's window wires are pretty much backwards?

that kinda sounds like maybe somebody did a very iffy rewiring job at some point..

if i had m car with me id photobucket a shot of the master switch plug loom for you to compare the colour coding..

Anybody want to help out with that?
