Nobody knows what I am talking about as in Dump Valve!

we knew it was coming

know it may seem like i am just repeating what you say but to just come to the conclusion that the 007P unit is Crap and to tell people not to bother is a little to biased,

It is intersting to hear you say they leak past the port (sorry not 100% sure where you mean by the Zorst port)? did your tests ever prove where the leak was? surely if this is the case then there is still room for improvement?

I never said a 007P was crap ?????

What I think I said , was that in DV performance terms so called uprated DV's offer no advantage over the std DV and in that respect are not worth paying over 3 times more for them.

A DV is a very simple valve, it only has 3 ports:

1. Is a charge air inlet port (post turbo, pre TB).

2. Is a signal port (post TB)

3. Is a exhaust port (post MAF, pre turbo)

During boost conditions the DV exhaust port (3)  needs to be fully closed preventing charged air (1) escaping/leaking back to the turbo inlet.

The OEM DV valve is 100% effective at doing this on engines with both std and modified boost pressures, and combined with the fact it has the best reaction/recovery times, IMO makes it by far the best buy.

But its your car your money, make your own choices.

Good deal then......

A lot of the jap cars do not use the recirc valves that the VAG group cars need,  but use the open type valves.

The VAG group cars do not like the open type BOV

Dump Valves, Wastegates, Recirc Valves are Blow Off Valves all different. They do different jobs.

As standard these cars run a Recirc Valve on the intake and a Wastegate on the Exhaust.

Interesting little read I found.......

One of the simplest and effective modifications any 20VT Driver can consider, is the replacement of the factory diverter valve, this is not only a popular modification, but also very useful one to as well as being affordable and a simple task to do.

007P

Available in shiny aluminium or powder coated Black (so they look like the factory valves), the valves are well made replacements, fit well and look great.

Improved throttle response is one of the most noticible effects, with less lag between gear changes, keeping the turbo spinning, a quick gear change is rewarded with a faster uptake in power. Don't get me wrong this isn't a power mod, you wont gain BHP by fitting a DV, but the power the car produces will be directed and controlled far better than it was before.

Not really buddy, that is just Forge quoting BS about there DV. Most tuners are bound to quote claims to make folk buy there parts and it works  .

I have one of the forge but because mine had failed and i like the idea of adjustable springs to alter based on mapping. However no reason a std DV should not work as let's face it these MK Octys are getting on now so the DV is a good part to replace if never done so. I just bought a new std one as they are built better now and apparently don't leak at all.   Will fit it soon and see if it is any better than my Forge.

All told about it on this Youtube vid which has a 20VT engine on the Dyno with stock, upgraded etc damp valves.....From about 3.35 in :)

The dump valve is usually not visible and sometimes contained within a ceramic housing attached to a chain. I've found a decent image for illustrative purposes only.

HTH

You got to much time on your hands......... :giggle:

Kinda prove's the point really that std DV when working properly is fine. Only reason it suffer with mapped cars is the age of the DV which large boost is just wearing the poor thing out sooner.

I have bud....Way to much at the moment as all I can do is sit in front of the laptop as Dr said I have this thing called labyrinthitiis (Spelling!)  Came on strong Friday, wherever I move or what ever I do spins, its horrible. So have been given some tabs to take and told to try and sit in one place and not move about, this is fine by me but when he said for 10-14 days I was not best pleased!  So I have nearly 2 weeks of sat in front of my laptop. Not a loud to watch tv due to fast moving things and no reading books.....Oh and a big no to driving for 2 weeks :(  Also being in demolition I am self employed so no work means no pay :(  Anyway!!  Back to the dump valve, interesting how it made no difference at all. So basically the more expensive ones like Bailety, Forge etc can be serviced thus making them last that bit longer.....From £40 for an OE to £120 for a Forge, 3 times the price, bit steep!

Oh sorry to hear that buddy

I just had surgery  to remove a dodgy looking mole on my right calf. Dam painful and stitches are so tight I am hobbling around at the moment.

Was meant to travel to Mexico on Business yesterday for 2 weeks but postponed that now.

The Forge look's quality and the fact  it can be serviced is a good thing including swapping of various stiffer springs to suit mapping and boost is also good. But the price means you could buy at least 3 std DV @ £29 each  lasting probably just as long. Mind you I paid lot less than new for my Forge so was lucky. I have heard of a few Forges and Bailey leaking worse than a good std DV though so as mentioned you may think you are getting something special for your money, but may not be the case as proven.

... £120 for a Forge...

4yrs ago they where £50-£60

You can buy identical chinese clones of forge dump and recirc valves (eg complete with branded box, instructions, etc), so if you see a new one cheap you know why
