"Deadlock see handbook" message ?

Featured Replies

Hi all, picked up a 9 month old elegance 170 dsg in black today and this is a message I have noticed, could anyone advise please... have checked hbook and cant find a reference.

I part exed a year old mondeo titx sport 2.2 auto for the elegance and I am very impressed with the car... few things were better on the mondeo such as hi fi sound [seems very thin on the skoda] , miss the reversing camera, the usb socket and the interior was nicer on the ford.. BUT the superb is VASTLY better to drive with the dsg box, the auto box on the mondeo was a nightmare and the reason I got rid of it after 6 weeks..

Very happy with the car but might change the speakers...

be grateful for any advice re that deadlock message.

kind regards

Harveee

It's the car telling you the deadlocks will activate when you leave the car, so don't leave people locked in it as they won't be able to open the doors from inside and escape.

Yes it should be clearer and yes it's a pain in the rear end to see it every time.

I see , thank you vm Boss for your quick reply, was worried for a while.

regards

So was I. :)

No problem and welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum, I too have a superb and when i got mine I too was questioning the deadlock message after switching the car off but looked on here and found it it was about not leaving people inside when the car is locked via the key

Is this universal? I've never seen it.

Me too

It happens on my car each time I switch off. I just ignore it now.

Same on my Yeti and Rapid.

Been on vag cars since 2009.

I will look tomorrow.

Harvee, welcome.

Is that Newport, South Wales?

Mine's a 10-plate, so unless it's something you can programme out, it should be there. Where is it supposed to be? In the maxidot display or on the dials?

It comes up in the Maxidot display for a few seconds when you switch the ignition off.

Thanks, I'll look for it next time and report back.

Yes m8. Where are you ?

If it doesn't appear then perhaps it has been deactivated ?

So it does. It is amazing what you see every day but don't.

I dealers cant disable it, pretty sure VCDS cant either as it's one of the locked settings like the low temp warning

Definitely no Deadlock message for me. When I switch off, the maxidot goes black until I open a door, when the door-open graphic appears.

I have disabled automatic locking of the doors while the vehicle is in motion - perhaps that's the reason (though I don't immediately see the connection).
