SD Card

Featured Replies

Good Afternoon.

Is it safe to leave the SD Card in the Columbus slot for extended periods? (Days or even Weeks)

I know I could transfer the contents onto the HDD but being as there is already stuff there, I wouldn't know how to find the stuff on the SD Card (The new CD by Agnetha Faltskog (ABBA) its fabulous)

Please don't try to tell me how to find it as I just wont understand what you say.

Many thanks.

Regards

Mike.

I've had mine in there for 15 months without taking it out.

It's fine.

I can't believe you've stuck with the same 'old' music for that long Richard!

It's about 14 hours worth and to be honest I just plod along at 60mph most of the time listening to Radio Two.

Or I drive something else...

If you can get another one cheap might be worth taking a copy to save the hassle of rebuilding, but generally those solid state cards are hard as nails and can go for years.

Thank you all. I'll relax now and just leave it there.

If anything leaving the card in is better, as you're not rubbing the contact surface of the connector pins thus wearing them down (and, if it's one of these fancy slots that has a push to eject mechanism, you're putting less wear & tear on that, too).

Agree with BossFox, my 32GB card has more than enough, that coupled with the DVD I have in the unit with circa 800 tracks on it and what tripe I have stored on the hard drive, plenty for my journeys. . .
