Amundsen Map Update

Featured Replies

Has anyone carried out the map update yet?

The map supplied with the car is 2012/13 but there is a 2013/14 update available at the navteq website.

I tried earlier today but it didn't recognise the SD card as having any navigation data on it (card was a SanDisk 16GB SD Card).  Looking at the file structure it is identical to the Skoda card but more files with newer time stamps.

Only thing I can find online is that the system will only recognise Skoda Navigation SD cards.

Does this mean I need to overwrite my Skoda card with the new data?

  • Hello.   I have updatet my Amundsen. Here is a link to the instruktion, how to do  http://new.skoda-auto.com/SiteCollectionDocuments/download/maps-update/en/amundsen.pdf 1. on you pc. Make a map

  • Equally the most expensive is rarely best value. The trick is to find the right product that gives the features and reliability that you want at the right price. Bit like the Octavia...

  • Incorrect!!!The Amundsen does play video! I have connected my iphone via the mitsumi connector and watched all the videos and films through the Amundsen. They were not all purchased films/video either

I'm going to get the dealer to update mine when it goes in for its first service, you only get three free updates so I thought I'd spread the updates. Can't update at home anyway, we use Macs and the software is only Windows compatible. When are these sites going to wake up to the fact that Apple is increasingly popular?

I updated mine but it took for ever! I had to leave the machine on all night while it downloaded. Luckily my weekend and overnight usage is not included in my allowance!

There is another post as to the process which I followed and it worked.

Good Luck

I didn't realise we only got 3 updates, I thought it was 3 years of free updates?

Not too sure now you come to mention it Matt, I thought it was three updates, but I assume there must be a limit - can't believe Skoda would be too happy if you wanted to update every month, for instance.

I thought it was 3 updates. Did my first one as soon as I got the car. Took hours to download, and then although it has new roads for some reason it did not recognise the slip road from m11 to stansted airport. How often do these maps get updated by nactec??

Many will probably know already, but for those who don't -

Go to Navteq website - choose Products & Services section - click on Buy a map update - select Skoda from Icons list - choose your sat nav type - page opens with full instructions incl the fact that only Skoda supplied SD cards will work.

Hope this helps.

As the map provider is NAVTEQ, the same as for GARMIN, is it possible to update the favorite places from my GARMIN?

That's what I was asking.....

Do you have to overwrite the data on the Skoda official navigation SD card or has anyone had success with using a different SD card?

Well, finally bit the bullet and overwrote the original card with the upated data.

Works perfectly.

Glad all went well with the update & as a matter of interest how long did it take. Don't fancy leaving it to do it's thing overnight as others have suggested.

takes 10 minutes to download the update, 10 mins to backup the old maps and 10 mins to copy the new files across to card in my experience

Hello.

I have updatet my Amundsen.

Here is a link to the instruktion, how to do  http://new.skoda-auto.com/SiteCollectionDocuments/download/maps-update/en/amundsen.pdf

1. on you pc.

Make a map (org. Amundsen nav.)

Take your org. SD Card from you Amundsen and kopi all files to this map. (In my case it was ver. 0018)

Download new update

http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/Navteq-NavteqEurope-Site/en_GB/-/GBP/View-Promo?&cwt=application/ApplicationFrame_campaign_light&&Page=Skoda-Landing-Page-MIB-Amundsen&&NewDomainName=Navteq-NavteqEurope-Site&

New ver. 0021.

Make a map (Amundsen nav. Update ver..P21 or 0021)

Take your org. SD Card and format or delete org. files.

Now unzip the update files direct to you SD Card.

In you car.

Put you SD Card back into slot 2 (or 1 it seems in some cases)

Sorry for bad english, but I hope this can help some.

What vers. do you have?.

regards  Vagn  (DK)

Hope the links works.

Apple Mac sales are in decline.

If you're updating using instruction from Skoda website (in fact this same like 2 posts above) you can do it on any system. No matter Windows, OSX or Linux. It's simply copy over files. Download package is Zip compressed file. You can open it on all OS.

Apple Mac sales are in decline.

And??

And??

Off original topic. ...I might be wrong but if i recall correctly I don't think Apple computer sales ARE in decline. Overall sales are still up. Sales % growth is in decline, but not as much as PC sales growth. ... both due to tablet sales where Ipad currently dominates. Apple is still increasing market share against PC but is still miles behind. ( i use both and have no axe to grind either way)

Mac sales slide for third straight quarter, fall 7%

No axe to grind here either, I have a PC (for gaming and general use), 2 Macbook Pros, ipad and iphone.

But facts are facts.

Offended.. not in the slightest.

As for the map update. You should be able to do it on a mac like a PC as your just moving/copy files onto the SD card so its the same process no matter what OS

Probably accurate to say Macs are least badly affected by decline, but still in decline!

Yes, it's just a file, any computer that allows you to move files around onto removable media is going to be ok.

2012 Q2 -> 2013 Q3 they have increased market share which one might argue is not a decline ;)

Apple Mac sales are in decline.

As others have said, all PC sales are in decline, Mac less than most. Having had both, no way would I go back to Windows now I've got used to the slick way Macs work. But SWMBO who works in a Windows intensive job at her work prefers a PC. She admits this is mainly because she expects a Mac to work like a Windows PC does . But Macs are a lot more expensive, but last a lot longer, my Mac is now coming up six years old, runs the latest OS - how many Windows PC's can do that?

2012 Q2 -> 2013 Q3 they have increased market share which one might argue is not a decline ;)

Well I suppose if you either worked in marketing or were a politician, yes, you could argue that ;)

What's so special about the Skoda card that means you can't use any other card? Can you create one if one wasn't supplied with the car?

Ref apple sales, tablets are biting sales but also their hefty prices in the current economic climate. How can a £1000+ mac book be justified when you can buy a similarly or more powerful spec laptop for 1/2 the price?
