Skoda approved remaps?

Featured Replies

Are there such thing?

I know Faintree skoda in bridgenorth use to do revo remaps but don't seem to any more.

Anyone know of any skoda dealers who do remaps that do not void your warranty?

There are no Skoda approved remaps. If a Skoda dealer remaps your car, it will void the manufacturer's warranty. The dealer may provide their own 'warranty' that covers the remapped car, but it is not supported by the manufacturer and it cannot be transferred outside that dealer group. If they go bust, you are on your own.

Yup don't fancy losing warranty really. I've had new cars before that had to go back to iron out various things

You'd only lose the warranty on the turbo and parts directly affected. At worst, it just makes it harder to negotiate. You could always use an STS unit and set it back to standard whenever you wanted to.

Try dyno drive in Warrington they remap the ecu but have managed to do it with out any major draw backs they've just recently done that audi r8 v12 for audi on the tele the one with the rear end exposed it was filmed at the unit oh and they will also remove the remap at a later date for free if needed and transfer its programme to a storage device so you could possibly sell it on as they believe once you have paid for a remap its yours the contacts name it Chris

Hope this helps in any way

So they would have to prove that a remap caused your rear washer to fail, or mirror glass dropping off? Just some examples. Of course if you remap it, then forget any warranty on the turbo itself, pistons, crank, clutch etc, but that's the risk you take - so as always do your homework and always bear in mind that you usually only get what you pay for.  You can of course always drive with restraint - a sensitively driven remapped car would last longer than a brutally driven standard one.

If you remap a car to give levels of performance over and above those approved safe by Skoda for the running gear, brakes and chassis, that will potentially have significant warranty implications in the event of defects or damage occurring.

I know a number of dealers used to offer remaps in the past but I only know of one which does now. If this were to be done to a new car prior to registration, it would invalidate the certificate of conformity and it would be illegal to register the vehicle.

stever750, you, me and others know it is a re-map and an engine drivetrain we are talking about.

He is doing his homework and you are giving him your advice and experience.

I am Linking the Skoda warranty so he can decide himself what he thinks.

Skoda set it out as they legally want to on Modifications done beyond what they sell you the car with.

You can play about as much as you like speaking about rear washers etc.

If you are asked to sign a declaration that the car has not been re-mapped, and because you think it is undetectable you say yes,

that is Fraud, maybe expecting them to foot a £6000 bill.

People can do what they like,

but are you Underwriting them and saying its fine,

only turbo, bearing, pistons, rings, and do not worry, water pump, alternator, cat,

they are going to fork out on them.?

Lots of us Modify and accept we have invalidated your Engine/Drivetrain Warranty.

?? Did you read the now deleted thread from the Unhappy Customer, and the reply from the Company Owner and the Engineers report?

If someone wants a re-map that their choice you pay your money and take your chances.

Drive easy if thats your thing. But how many are Re-mapping for economy and reliability.?

george

Agree George with most of what you wrote, except for the bit about signing a declaration tantamount to fraud. Read my post again, it's clear that you forego any direct drive train warranty, but not necessarily indirect parts, which in my experience has been the inference; ie remap the car sir and ALL of your warranty cover is invalidated. No one should accept that position, and therefore be put off.

As for driving with restraint, the standard vrs is 75% unusable at max effort simply because of the sheer volume of traffic and layout / speed limits of our roads. You can use a remapped car even less time at its max potential for the same reasons, so unless you're a complete fool behind the wheel, remapping the engine with a reputable product should represent only a small increase in stress in its lifetime, and would probably manifest itself long after the warranty had expired.

Like you said, you pays your money etc...
