My 03 Silver VRS

Featured Replies

Hey guys

Recently brought a Octavia VRS from a member off here so thought would put up a thread, probably wont be much happening straight off as i'm just enjoying it and saving some money back lol.

The car has been stage 2 remapped by jabba and apparently running 229.9Bhp according to there print out.

Modifications are

Jabba sport stage 2 map

Jabba manual boost controller

Blueflame 3" downpipe and sport cat

Cat back exhaust system

17" Alloys

This was how i brought the car, the car was mapped with an induction kit fitted so i thought it was best to replace the air box with a cone, i followed the trend of the guys with the audi and used the S2000 air filter, its currently sitting in the engine bay but due to be changed either by a heat shield or the CAI pipe I've recently brought.

Next i'm looking to fit a boost gauge to see whats its running at as ive currently turned the controller right down until i can be sure. Refurbishing the alloys. Then maybe looking at a front mount, LCR splitter and some handling mods.

anyway some pictures.

cheers guys

Yea the induction is big, i got the idea from a member on here that has fitted one to his VRS, did some research and found this thread

http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-forum-8l-chassis/118673-benjamins-s2000-air-filter-mod.html

Seems to be a common mod in the vag group, thought for the £13 it cost me for the filter i would give it ago. They usually only £18 from eurocarparts but they had a sale on.

The maf's on the VRS need a silicone adapter to fit the cone though.

Looked at coilovers but my bora was pretty harsh so i don't know what i'm going to do.

nope no front mount YET lol, i have been looking and pricing up, but saving is needed after buying

only had the car 2 weeks, think the misses would kill me if i brought a hybrid setup

The kn jabba use is a big ol beastie too :)

Just drop and enjoy mate

And a rarb if a no as they r very cool

What size is the reducer please?

i used a 70-80mm reducer, its a little tight on the filter but it works.

Filter looks great for the money, might have to do that on mine :)

Cheers, for the price I might give this a go.

no problem, there's a lot of info in the link i posted above, i think for filter, reducer and hose clips is cost me about £21, not bad for a cone filter. the S3 guys say they get a better result with these than with the jetex etc due to the construction of the s2000 filter being paper with a sort of metal mesh inside. i'm not really sure tbh but its what i read in the link.

Is it ok to just leave the breather hose open like that?

The sai hose? Aparently it will be fine. Can always buy a mini filter to put on it which is what I intend on doing if I don't fit my cai pipe

I've got the S2K filter on the end of my CAI pipe, works well.

Phil, the only thing I would be worried about with yours is that it's pretty close to the ground, and being a paper filter it might get soaked and deteriorate.

It's been checked weekly since its gone on, fine so far :) looking to change it out for an R-Tech kit in the future though.

Not much of an update

Cars eml has been on for past week or so scanned it with bag com and faults showed it to be the pre cat lambda. Shopped around and managed get a Bosch one from eurocarparts for £71 which I didn't think was bad.

Fitted today cleared the codes and seems good at the moment hopefully this has fixed the issues.

Does it not have any sort of upgraded intercooler?

Also brought a boost gauge, now to find or make a holder, probably a pillar pod.

Havent updated in a while pretty much because i havent done anything to it.

Brought a pillar pod from K17KEO off here, unfortunalty it got damaged in the post, managed to repair it and fitted it today along with the boost gauge, plumbed in the hose only to find the one that came with it was too short, now ordered some silicone hose from ebay.

i did test it thought but the gauge would only read vacuum not boost, although car still seems to be boosting ok, so its either the hose or the gauge i think, i did batter the hose abit though while fitting it as i struggled find a grommet i could get through. ill see when the new hose arrives.

Brought the kit to do a full service, thats happening next weekend.

Came across some 19" BBS Lm reps on facebook for good money, and they werent to far away. I have wanted a set of these for a while when i had the bora before this. They need new tyres on 2 of them and i think the tyres are slighty too big at 235/35 so think i will change them all to 215/35. They have some marks on the lips so decided before anything was done i would repolish them.

finished one of them today and had a test fit to see how it looked.

may be a while before they are all fitted as need the time to finish the other 3 and funds for tyres.
