Monte Carlo running in?

Featured Replies

Picking up new Monte Carlo 1.6 diesel in approx 2 weeks, intending to do a bit of touring round Scottish highlands, please don't think I'm 'thick' but; do I have to 'take it easy' i.e. run it in?

Any advice greatly appreciated, thank you, John.

dont be afraid to use some revs to bed the rings in. dont let it labour in too low a gear though.

Same engine as me

1 - totally ignore the gear change indicator/advisor.  5th gear up a slope at 1100rpm with the engine grumbling and growling is not good!

2 - don't thrash the living daylights out of it - let it rev but stay 1,000 to 1,500rpm away from the red line for the 1st 1,000 miles

3 - don't let it labour in low gears - ignore the gear change indicator!!

4 - drive extra gently while it warms up

5 - ignore the gear change indicator...oh!  I already said that!!!

Enjoy your new motor

drive 'normally' :)
