Has anyone with ACC or Front Assist taken delivery?

Featured Replies

Like the subject line says - by my math, people should have started taking delivery of cars with these features and I was wondering if anyone on here has yet??

Does anyone have any real life pics or feedback on how well it works??

Mine is due for collection 2 September with ACC but keen to find out!

I have also ordered mine with ACC but no build date yet and seems to be build week 45 suggested by some but not sure if that's UK cars or not ?

Must be nice to have a build date

Unless you're (grammar check as below) American (in which case, you are excused), it's MATHS.

I can't answer your question though.

Might want to ask on the Golf forums as these have had it for a while and it will be the same system.

And unless you're a teenager, it's "you're".

Correct! Just checking you're on the ball!

Just so you know, yes I am American so I am excused :-)

What date did you order it? I ordered 26 June & have build week 33, but as many will tell you that is a prelim date which can & frequently changes. I thought the wait would be OK but the longer it goes on the more impatient I am getting (confirmed by SWMBO)

Sorry can't answer the question in original post, but would have liked front sensors but didn't want ACC.

Yea - just to clarify I have a prelim build date of week 33 so there might be some movement with my delivery date. The dealer has promised a demo to use in case this happens though so I'm not too worried.

  • 1 month later...

I ordered a Steel Grey, 1.4 Tsi Elegance on 3rd July. It was built last week (Week 35) and arrived at exit port (Emden) today (6th Sept)

Should get it in about 10 days. Dealer tells me that all Elegancies are coming through with Front Assist.

We should get ours close together! Mine was built last week (36) and should be here in 2-3 weeks!!! I can assure you that there will be PLENTY of pics!!

I just looked on the MK7 Golf forum at front assist.

Some saying it's scary as it happens without warning. We're going to start testing ours straightaway so we know what it does and what it feels like when it happens behind the wheel.

So you're going to try and crash into the back of something?  :giggle:

3 months of ocassionally driving the wife's Golf GT and I've had a warning bleeeep a few times when I've come up behind a cyclist too quickly, once it braked for me when a tranny van suddenly turned left without warning (and yes I was too close to him) and then the other time it broke for me when I was driving too fast around a small road with a tight right hander and I was obviously too close to the metal railings

It's great technology, just like the handbrake that isn't really a handbrake, have faith!!!

It doesn't just kick in.

You get warning beeps and graphics on the MFD before it intervenes.

Quite liked it on the loan Golf I had for a day.

ACC, front assist and Line assist in action. :)

Mine's at the dealers and definitely has the front assist radar in the grill. Only got a rubbish pic though :(

Pick it up on Wednesday :) I didn't go for ACC and now wondering if I should have...

Just watched the two clips above, there is now way if the driver hadn't braked in the first clip, there is now way the car could have stopped in time from rear ending the truck. I find it funny in the second clip that the truck it shows is a scania and the cars are VAG group, don't the people know who made this that VW also make big trucks, ooop's.

Not quite. Lol.

Reading your reply though, what would happen in the above scenario on black ice or snow when front assist took over and applied the brakes too hard. I know the cars have all the gizmos - ABS, ASR etc but what would it really do?

James

Pretty sure it is disabled if the 4c ice warning is active

I think front assist only auto brakes below 18 mph, above that it just beeps and does the brake jolt to really wake you up. It may also prepare the brakes for a quicker stop.

How do you guys know all this stuff?

Don't tell me..... google is my friend.

Mind you if it starts snowing, the radar will be covered over anyway.

Skoda News report - "the M27 was closed today after 9 Skoda owners stopped to clear snow from their front bumpers. It appears the cars involved have some sort of radar thingy attached to the front of their cars.

Skoda UK were unavailable for comment as their cars haven't been built yet. Including a Director from Fareham who ordered a sunroof on a white vRS combi."

James

The manuals are online from skoda which should clear any questions ;)
