Fabia VRS Bluetooth Issue

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I've been reading the forum for quite a while and found that this is a brilliant community and most of any answers I have needed are already up and much discussed.

However back in Feb I became the proud owner of a '10 plate Green VRS (CAVE engine please dont explode, please don't explode...........)

I have had no trouble over the few thousand miles driving done so far and even got some really good support from DM Keith Skoda in Huddersfield when i was being driven insane by various knocks and rattles, which have been reduced to some minor rattles around the aircon vents.

But............one niggle I have is a problem with the bluetooth telephone/audio, I can connect a phone up easily and even port numbers to the car so they can be read from the maxidot, however when i come to make a call, the phone will respond and dial but I get no sound and the stereo doesn't cut out as if the Head Unit is refusing to talk to the bluetooth (or something more techie.)

I have a good friend at work with a VAG-Com VCDS cable and laptop who did me a scan this lunch and apart from a couple of worrying logs of misfires (no dates) the only code referencing the phone was something along the lines of no connection to the transceiver.  Will get the code off his laptop later.

Does anyone have any thoughts/have seen this problem before.

Also I did take out the head unit and checked that all cables were attached at the rear.

Help.................

definatly a hardware/software problem... when I make a call by simply pressing the steeringwheel button and saying 'call ***' the stereo stops and the phone comes through... If I use an app (like a camera detector or satnav) on the phone, that will come through the speakers too.... just works like that...

I'm sure they will fix it :)

On your phone settings make sure you enabled the auto connect facility...

Also if its an iPhone make sure the source is switching to SKODA_BT

Thanks for the replies guys, the Bluetooth seems to be doing all it should connecting to my iPhone and others if needed, I can dial using the stalk and mfsw. But the radio never mutes/switches to phone mode and I get no sound. Really frustrating.

On the plus side, after playing with the VCDS, my car now beeps, allows passengers in at one touch and has a lovely digital mph readout, so not all bad.

Going to revive another thread here.

I had learned to live with this issue as I couldn't stomach paying dealer fees for what I am convinced should be DIY fixable.

Can anyone tell me where I can locate my Bluetooth module and a rough guide for what should be wired to what.

As per OP I can connect to the car, the car can see my phone book and control my phone, however my radio does not respond, the call is made and goes through but I get no sound, swing radio continues playing Muzak.

I think the Bluetooth module is supposed to live under the passenger seat?

Mine doesn't - but I retrofitted mine myself

Thanks P to the H

The mirophone is in the light cluster in the head lining.

Easy to pop the cover off and unscrew then whole unit pops down.

Right,

I rarely have cause to need to make phone calls when driving.

Yesterday it would have been very useful to be able to call home on the drive back from work......and I still can't because I can't use blimming bluetooth.

I am reluctanct to take this to the dealer and have Skoda bill me for multiple hours labour to fix this as I am convinced that it must be something really simple (stand to be corrected on this :) )

So to repeat the above, I have full bluetooth connectivity to my phone, I can pair it and get Maxidot integration with access to phone book and display change to show that Maxidot knows I am making a call.  To my mind this must be a connection issue between the Bluetooth Module and my swing Radio as the only thing that is not happening is stereo mute on calls and sound through the speakers.  I have had the Swing headunit out and can see no obviously disconnected wires.

Please can anyone either refer me to the correct Briskodian to ask for some help on this and/or tell me where I can find my bluetooth module (it's not under the passenger seat) and what connections it has to the radio so that I can check these.

I have faith that there is someone on here that can help me solve this

Kind regards

Sparkly :D

I think the Bluetooth module is under the rear seat squab. On my Monte there's a module with wires connected under the larger rear seat base, this, as far as I'm aware is the Bluetooth module.

When I first connected my phone to the car it wouldn't let me use the head unit to dial numbers or make calls until I realised that my phone was prompting me to say yes to 'do you want to connect'. It then ask do you want to ask this question each time, I replied 'no' so now I have full integration and all call lists and phone book shows on the Amundsen and Maxidot automatically whenever I get in the car. I can use the touchscreen or the rocker buttons on the stalk to make and receive calls with full stereo mute.

This might not be the right answer Sparky but it was driving me round the twist at the time as my last car connected every time with no prompting from the phone.

Thanks Gaz, it's maybe a pointer in the right direction if I can spy the module.  Will lift up the rear seats later and look, guessing it's a small unit :)

I have the connectivity between phone and bluetooth sorted, no issues, it's the bluetooth module to swing radio where something is amiss.

Ok module located under rear seat bench.

No obvious wiring issue
