Fellow skoda drivers i call to thee for help!!

Right, basically i have a 52 plate octavia 1.9tdi. A few months ago i started to get an intermittent problem on acceleration, it would get up to about 60mph then go into link a limp mode. I have cleaned the egr valve ( quite clogged with carbon) i also had the turbo cleaned with an innotec turbo clean. The problem seems to be getting worse, rather than better, i can hear the turbo whistling as normal when driving in and around tight streets. The thing that puzzles me is that if the problem comes on, i usually pull over, turn off the engine leave it 10 secs, start up again and the problem has gone, the car performs immaculately again until the engine is turned off???

Can any one shed any light on what they think it may need to remedy this fault, Cheers, Rob.

Ps Had a full service 6 months ago, fuel, air filter cam belt oil etc

To me it sounds like the sticky vain issue, although the turbo clean should have cured it, here's a link to the D.I.Y solution

Probably worth getting the car scanned for fault codes too, have a peek at the VCDS map here, there may be a member close who could scan it

Wot he said.

Had it put on 2 computers, 1 said the turbo was knackered, the other said there was faulty expansion tank censor??

Was on an over boost fault?

Not that i know of, Is there anyone in and around Penzance (Cornwall) that could give me a hand to do the mr muscle clean?? Obviously i would pay for the assistance!! . Im not very good mechanically.

what would the over boost remedy be??

Bloody autocorrect. Normally if you have sticky vanes it will probably log an over boost fault. Though sometimes you get an under boost depending how the vanes stick.

There is a guy from Cornwall on the last page of the mr muscle thread, might be worth giving him a shout.

The car seems to be in a permanent sluggish state now, there must be something im missing? Im not comptent enough to do the Mr M job. Also driving home the other night, the air in take to the egr valve blew off. But being stupid i carried on driving the car to get me home, will that do any damage? Your advice is very welcome!!!!!!!

My 52 plate leon 1.9 tdi 90 did this & it was sticky turbo veins, i took it to a vw specialist who used turbo clean but even he said that it probably wouldnt work.right enough soon after it started doing it again, but not as frequently.

I thought id bought a good car with very low mileage but the trouble was having such a low mileage & being from the rural area it was from meant that it hadnt never been driven hard enough & probably hardly ever been above 60mph.

So what was happening was when accelarating hard it was fine until it got to about 60mph where the veins were all clogged up & then it would stick, go into limp mode & it was stop, switch off engine then back again to get going again.

So i sold it, vowing to get a new diesel & use it properly, but i didnt know about the dreaded DPF's did i!!!....oh well that's another story & im now going back to petrol, some people just shouldnt buy diesel he he!.

Best of luck with sorting it out buddy.

Cheers, that is exactly the same symptoms as mine!!! I need a remedy, and a cheap one at that............ No money to change car, and not enough to pay garage prices

Just a quick update,

I went to my local MillAuto Supplies, and they suggested that i try Wynns Turbo cleaner and egr valve cleaner.

Cost me £17 for both, but it seems to have worked!!! I done the turbo clean one evening and the egr clean the following night, touch wood, we drove to Torquay this week and the car went like a dream there and back. I also sprayed the MAF sensor and wiped it over with the egr cleaner.

I would recommend it!!

Would injectors be the problem?

Fault has returned with a vengeance.
