I used a canon powershot sx20 is, which is a bridge camera. I'm a complete amateur at photography so don't know too much.

The ISO was set to 80 I think and set the shutter to stay open for 15 seconds (that's the maximum on this camera) and I don't know what it is but it was set to f2.8 aperture maybe?

I'd love to learn about photography properly but will need a proper dslr

Nice shots mate, it was some storm!

Quite appropriate in a way to have lightening forking onto & around Dungeness Power Station!

Having tried in the past shots like these are not easy to capture well, part of which is being lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time! ;)

Thanks Rob, I'm a keen storm enthusiast, so I enjoy chasing them

Ditto I love storms & can watch them for hours.

Reminded me of some of the best night fishing sessions I used to do with lightening illuminating everything & that great characteristic atmosphere!

Thanks - I am a complete amateur too. I have a Nikon D3100, which takes reasonable pictures, but have to confess usually leave it in auto mode as I haven't a clue what I'm doing  . Useful to know the kinds of settings you used - I must try harder to utilise some of the other capabilities of the camera.

Happy Shooting

Only just noticed this thread. Nice shots of the storm. Had one round my way not too long ago but couldn't get anything decent in photos due to the vast amount of ran covering my window. Nice one though.
