Hello I am a newbie

Featured Replies

Thinking of buying a Skoda Yeti Elegance in October/November (we currently have an 11 year old Citroen Picasso)

Really keen to buy the Elegance with 0% finance but can't quite decide if this is available or not at the moment - usually it says selected models.

I am keen on the TSI Elegance Petrol in Petrol blue or Shark blue.

Have been looking on DTD which are currently offering the Elegance at around £17,000 cash price which is about £2000 less the our local dealer.

Any comments welcome!

Welcome to Briskoda. :) I am an Octavia II owner with absolutely no Yeti experience so will leave further comment to the Yeti owners who congregate here.

Welcome to the yeti section of Briskoda.

The 0% finance may or may not be available if you buy through DtD, I think you would have to negotiate this part with whichever dealer DtD use.

You could also try taking the figures to your local dealer but mine certainly couldnt match the price I got from Carfile.

There is a yeti facelift due later in the year or early next year, so its worth considering whether you want the current model or the slightly modified/facelifted one.

Also note there is currently around 12 week wait for new order build.

Thanks for your replies - do you think the 0% deal is available on all yetis when you go to a dealer or just some?

I think its on all, but dealers seem reluctant to mention it as it costs them some of their profit margin. So they will likely factor it in to you p/exchange price unless you wait til you've agreed your cost to change and then ask for 0%.

Thanks Marie - we have no car to exchange as we are giving it to our son, it may be worth asking I suppose they can only say no!

You should be in a good bargaining position then. Good luck!

Welcome Dancebluecat.

Can't really advise you on the 0% issue, but it's worth going for if available.

You'll LOVE the Yeti and you'll pick up some GREAT pre-new model versions.

Hi, dancebluecat. I'm collecting my Yeti 1.2 Elegance next week. The first NEW car I've bought with my own money. ( Loads of company cars previously ) This is one great car - read the trade reviews, especially Auto Express 'cos it's no. one in their reader survey.

You'll get great advice here on BRISKODA, join as a Freedom member for a measly £12 AND you get a sticker!

P.S. anyone want my Fabia 2 ? It's on the 'for sale' section at the bottom of the home page.

Hi Dancebluecat,

I have just ordered a yeti elegance 170cr through dtd and got 0% finance (I have paid the deposit and arranged the finance with the dealer this morning). Basically the dtd prices at present show a huge discount, you will not get 0% on this huge discount as it would mean the dealer selling at a loss. You can however get a reduced discount and take advantage of the 0% offer. The discount you get should still be a lot more than your local dealer will offer you.

The 0% finance on the yeti only excludes the special edition adventure models. You have a choice of 24 months HP or upto 42 months pcp with a final lumpsum payment.

Give dtd a call and they should be able to advise this for you and give you a discount quote.

Hope this helps.

Steve

Just been doing more research and now considering a 1.2 elegance yeti dsg - never had an automatic before - should I go for it rather than manual ? Is it more hefty on the mpg? it takes the price up to £18500 rather than £17500 on drive the deal.

another question re delivery - how long are new builds taking now - say if I wanted the new car to arrive November/December time?

Thanks

I'm certainly no Yeti expert, but if you're thinking of buying an automatic you might want to check out the current Which? Car Buying Guide, which shows a drop in Yeti reliability from 5* last year to 3* this year.  The reasons given are problems with the electrics - but specifically also 'issues with the automatic transmission'.

Whilst I do not have a 1.2 dsg I think that many on here who do would be happy to recommend this combination. I have driven it as a lone car and was extremely impressed at how smooth and easily it delivered the power from the engine with virtually seem less gear changing.  I changed my manual 140 to a 140 dsg and do not regret the change - best thing I've done in fact.

docc started a thread on this very "Which" report-it coincides with a car of the year award or two. My experience of forums is that those with problems soon find a way to have them aired on line and they do not seem to have done so in numbers that would substantiate this report. I gave up which some years ago when I realised its limitations. Here is a link to his thread in case anyone missed it which gives a number of reactions.http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/282816-5-star-for-reliability-but-now-dropped-to-3-star-by-which/

With regard to build times, dtd advised me of 12-14 weeks. However some forum users have advised of cars being ready in about 8 weeks.

Go for the 1.2 with DSG you will not regret it. I would say the gearbox although costly add on is the best you can get. You will love driving it

Yetis have been built since 2009 with the 7 speed DSG in the 1,2.  Honestly there has not been that many problems if any that I'm aware of.  Nothing out of the ordinary to be sure with most all owners happy with the DSG.  My diesel DSG is my first automatic car too and I will never go back to a manual.  You will be fine.  And if you are still worried (and will keep the car for more than three years) get the extended warranty.

Welcome to Briskoda, you will find the site invaluable, I have just recently purchased a 1.2 Automatic elegance , this is also my first automatic and I find it great and would not want  to go back to a manual, it is so much easier to drive in stop start heavy traffic. I bought mine from a main dealer and achieved a discount similar to what you are being quoted and got a delivery  40 days from placement of order. I went for the following options Heated seat and screen( Not used as yet) , 12 speaker sound system:  which is very good,  Amundsen Sat Nav and Dab radio , works great, spare wheel, did not fancy driving round without one.

Prior to delivery I was concerned that the 1.2 would be underpowered, I have found it to be no problem at all, and if the manual adjusted front seats were going to be comfortable , again no problem.

Colour is obviously a personal thing I have the Candy White which I love and would not swap for any other colour ( It is also standard and is not an additional cost

Welcome! Picked ours up on Friday. Love it! Buy one!

Thanks everyone - it is a definite yes to a Skoda Yeti but need to persuade my husband that we need it NOW! Still working on him!!

Amazingly Wiganyeti I also want the heated windscreen and the sat nav option and thanks for pointing out about the candy white - a very good thought as a no cost option!

When does everyone reckon the facelift version is coming out as I like the current version and chances are if I wait too long (ie march) there will be no more old versions made :(

New one will be shown at the Frankfurt motor show in September and will come to dealers around December.  Many engines and spec levels have already been discontinued in readiness for this change.  Just another reason to tell your husband to hurry up!  :-)  (Unless of course the facelift comes out and you realise you like that more...  always a possibility.)

Of course you do. Actually, you needed it yesterday!

Dont forget the heated seats, on my previous car I had both heated seats and heated front screen , they are options that once you have had them there is no going back. Hard to imagine now but it does occasionally get quite cold here in the UK
