wheel bolts

Featured Replies

Hi guys sorry but this is a silly question... I've bought some Fabia vrs alloy wheels to go on my fabia comfort... What alloy wheel bolts do I need, like the size etc? And where can I get them from? Any help and links will be appreciated

Standard ones will be just fine, they are all the same.

Where can I get them from? As I've currently got steel wheels and the bolts are steel too

Your standard bolts will be fine, they are exactly the same.

Granted, not on a Fabia, but I was told to just use my standard bolts with my winter steel rims, as they're the same (as Tech1e says).

Edit: But Bickerton Skoda (aka skodaparts) said I could buy some new ones from them if I really wanted to!

Fabia vRS has a steel spare, you use the same bolts.

Doesn't steel and alloy react together and rust? - Something I've heard don't no if it's true?

So are you hoping to find some wheel bolts made out of the same alloy as the wheels?

Wouldn't there be a worse problem then of the alloy bolts corroding in the iron threads of the discs/hubs/drums?

Not to mention the wheels falling off 'cos the material of the bolts wouldn't be anywhere near strong enough?

Something I've heard don't no if it's true?

it is not

I would have thought you need new wheel bolts as the wheel bolts for the steel wheels may not have the collar that sits in the wheel bolt recess on the wheel.

I use the wheel bolts from my alloys when I use the spare. Why? Because as Tech1e pointed out, they're the same bloody bolts!

Both have a seat for the bolts collar.

What is wrong with buying original Skoda ones?

Looks like far too obvious in this case - must try harder DGW!

Cheap lockers are crap and cause nowt but problems I've found. Original Skoda ones all the way

How much would I be looking at paying for original skoda locking nuts?

around a tenner each IIRC

You'll get a genuine set on eBay for £15

Actual size M14 with 1.5 thread.

Had to recut the threads on the bolt and in the rear wheel hub, when the tyre fella cross-threaded a wheel-bolt..
