Shock, horror - 1st problem with new Roomster

Featured Replies

Took something out of the top glovebox and it was hot.  Felt the floor of the glove box and it was very hot just above where the light  is located in the bottom glovebox.

Put a video camera in the bottom glovebox and confirmed that the light is staying on when the door is closed.  It stays on until the doors are locked at which point it turns off so no chance of a dead battery in the morning.

Until I can get it sorted I was going to take the bulb out.  Does the light just clip into the glovebox roof?  Do I just lever it out to get at the bulb?

I am assuming a microswitch problem - where is it?  Is it easy to get at?  Never had a car so free of squeaks and rattles so the idea of the dash coming out fills me with trepidation!

The light bulb is easy to access. You need a small screwdriver to pry the bulb housing out, and then the bulb is connected with clips.

See owner's manual for exact info on removing the bulb :)

Is your new car not under warranty?

If you wanted to look at it yourself you'd have to take out the radio and then the upper part of the centre console (it's pretty easy) -the switch is to the right of the glove box.

Yes, it is under warranty but not worth a visit just for this.  If it was easy to get at then I would have a go myself but I'm not going to start pulling the dash apart.  Will just take the bulb out and get it fixed at the 1st service or if I get a list of minors or something more major happens.

That small area in the upper glovebox gets HOT! - don't want the plastic to melt!

Thanks - that is what I thought from looking at it but didn't want to pry it too hard if it was held in by hidden screws.

Never thought to RTFM!!

Replace with an LED version????....these consume less power (watts) so run cooler...................
