Ordered last weekend and the dealer's computer showed a provisional week 41 build (week commencing 30 Sept I think) so delivery should be around the end of October.  Given I've ordered the Pano sunroof & heated windscreen I suspect it will be delayed beyond that.  Last car was nearly 4 months from order to delivery in 2010 around the same time of year & SWMBO's Yeti was 3 months earlier that year so I'm used to the wait..

 

Given what has been said elsewhere on this site I wasn't sure about whether or not I could get the heated windscreen.  Dealer's computer accepted it OK as part of the order even though I have queried the availibility with them.

 

While the colour is a bit of a "shot in the dark" I think the brochure colour is probably nearer the mark than the configurator.  Configurator seems rather dark & flat but it does the same with some other colours as well especially the green.  I think (hope!) it will be a bit orangier than Corrida red.  Salesman said mine was their 4th customer order.  2 Rio Red & 2 Race Blue.  Every demonstrator in Scotland seems to be Race Blue and it is surprising how quickly I've tired of looking at it.

 

Colour choice was difficult as most cars on the road these days are so many shades of grey.  Last 2 have been black & white respectively and each time the decision has come down to the chosen colour & Race Blue.  Daughter was refusing to get in a yellow or green one!  Fancied something completely different this time.  Hope some pics appear soon so order can be changed if needs be!

That sounds good. I started with the 1.4TSI Elegance with the Winter Pack, but finally found out from Skoda that it was not available on the TSI engine so I switched to the TDI. Interesting that you've got a provisional build week though, I never got that.

 

To me, the brochure colour looks similar to Sunset Orange on the VW Polo. I'm hoping it is more like Sunset Red on the Golf.

Because I was querying some of the options and they were quiet we were able to sit with the dealers configurator and check a few things out.  Once all the details are keyed in it gives an indication of the build week and price etc.  Just how accurate that estimate is is another matter given the way my current vRS build date moved around and that was for a fairly standard car unlike this one.

Good for you! Hopefully that'll make it more likely that they'll schedule a build date. Put it on here as soon as you get one.

Will do! Dealer reckoned it should be here by end of October, but not counting on that! We had to order the Winter Pack to get the heated windscreen, washer jets and sets - they can't be specified individually, apparently. Dealer 'phoned yesterday to confirm all was OK and order has been accepted...

Skoda UK have just told me that the Rio Red metallic is available on all Octavias EXCEPT the vRS!

 

They say the August brochure has it the wrong way round.

I noticed it was a colour option for the vRS and I got excited for a nice metallic red option, it would have looked great! Shame on you SUK! 

hahaha, sorry, but you to laugh at SUKs documentation.

It confuses the hell out of me! I've already complained to them about how they have different specification information coming from different sources.

 

I'm not convinced that they are right as a number of brochures from other countries show Rio Red as an option on the vRS (or RS).

 

They did say that my car has a provisional build date of 14th October (week 42), later than I'd hoped but at least I have one now.

The Rio Red is on the configurator as an option on the vRS as I was looking at last night, seems a nice colour!

According to the latest brochure, it is only available on the vRS.

 

According to Skoda UK it is available on all Octavias except the vRS.

I'd be interested to hear, Ewen, if your order gets beyond the Provisional Stage - with the Heated Windscreen and TSI engine combination.  My similar order produced an error code at the point of Build, and thereafter sat in limbo (since when my selected colour has been discontinued, and I have accordingly cancelled the order (being more than a bit naffed off with Skoda UK's Options merrygoround)).

It's in the Czech RS brochure and configurator too so it's definitely built in this colour.

Maybe awesome is a bit strong, but I'll be happy to have it on my Elegance. It reminds me of the Copper Red colour that Mazda did, especially if the gold effect is accurate when the sun catches it.

Me too given all that has been said about this this forum!  Salesman is on holiday until the end of the month so I'll chase up the position then.

You could ring Skoda UK, they are more likely to know the status of your order.

+1. Skoda UK are pretty good & just as a matter of interest does the dealership only have one salesman. If yours is on holiday speak to his boss, they are there for your convenience not the other way round.

Is there any stats on the average age of a vrs driver? Husband very interested - will he look a bit of an old boy racer in it?

It seems unlikely since Skoda have not manufactured any yet. I suspect the seller has just chosen it from a list of available colours. I'm not sure what it is though.

No I can't work out what it is either. Need a Fabia brochure from 2009!
