Torque setting for front hub nut / bolt

Featured Replies

I left my haynes manual at home. does anyone know the correct torque setting for the frot hub nut/bolt?

its a 2005 skoda octavia 2.0 tdi pd 140

Tightening torques:

Wheel hub with wheel bearing to wheel-bearing housing   Use new screws  70 Nm + 90°

Brake caliper/brake carrier to wheel-bearing housing

Brake caliper FS III  30 Nm

Brake caliper FN3 with brake carrier  190 Nm

Speed sensor to wheel-bearing housing 8 Nm

Brake disc to wheel hub with wheel bearing 4 Nm

Drive shaft to wheel hub with wheel bearing “hexagon screw”   Use new screw  Vehicle must not be standing on its wheels for tightening the screw  200 Nm + 180°

Drive shaft to wheel hub with wheel bearing “twelve-sided bolt”  Use new screw Vehicle must not be standing on its wheels for tightening the screw 70 Nm + 90°

Wheel bolts 120 Nm

Vehicle must not be standing on its wheels for tightening the screw 200 Nm + 180°

Drive shaft to wheel hub with wheel bearing “twelve-sided bolt” Use new screw Vehicle must not be standing on its wheels for tightening the screw

Don't pull the car off the axle stands either, torque it to 100 nm then refit the wheel, drop it down onto the ground then finish it off.

Hey Guys,

Sorry to hijack this again. Does anyone know if these are same settings for a 55 plate Octy VRS 2.0 Petrol or can point me in the right direction? Bought the car last week and loving it! But needs some new brake pads sharpish and need to know the caliper bolt torque settings.

Thanks in advance!

Do you know the size of the hub nut?  Hoping same/similar to the mk1

Does anyone know whether this is for a dry or greased bolt? It's a hell of a lot of torque, scary to put in such a mechanism.

it will be dry as it is not common practice to put grease on your hub bolts - just remember always use new bolts as they are stretch bolts and are one time use only

Thanks, I've already put the (new) bolt in, but didn't clean the grease out. I've torqued it up as much as I could with a few locked nuts on a bolt, won't be finishing that (nor driving it) until the new Allen sockets arrive.

that's fine as I thought you meant putting extra grease on the bolt as there will be always some grease in the cv joint where the bolt goes through
