Battery Drain

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have 2001 Fabia 1.4MPI 8v . I have been trying to find the cause of a parasitic drain on battery.

So far I have connected ammeter to battery terminal and found the drain is through terminal 2 at battery. I pulled the interior light fuses and then pulled each fuse in turn but no effect on current draw.

The draw is 0.110A

I have noticed that if the terminal 2 cable is disconnected (did this by accident while testing) that when reconnected there is a small rise in current then a return to only 0.010A almost like something switched off that hadn't previously.

any help would be greatly appriciated, I have vcds lite, could this be any help in diagnosing the problem?

Radio or X contact switch inside ignition barrel.

Seems that I've been chasing my a*** on this one. It turns out that the 0.100A draw switches down to 0.010A after 30mins. Must be a timer. I think I will get battery tested as when I put it on charge the battery charger never wen't above 2amps which doesn't seem right for a battery that is flat. The alternator is giving 14 volts when running but mabey its having the same trouble as the charger the battery doesn't seem to be taking charge.
