Google spreadsheet question . . .

Featured Replies

This is possibly the most simple thing to do in spreadsheet but I never listened at school, too busy playing games.

I have a columns J & M full of figures running down the rows. I want to take column J away from the column M figures putting the answer in column N. I'm doing this manually, so say its row 10, I put in N10 "=M10-J10". Is there a method to condition the columns to do this the for every row without me needing to type the formula in each box?

Cheers

Matt

Matt,

Just copy and paste - Google and Excel will change the row numbers for you. You can also click on the column header and paste to add the formula to every row.

Or, you can click on cell N10, on the bottom right is a square box.

Hover over this, and your mouse turns into a big +

Click and drag down to the row you want it to fill the formula down to.

Actually, if you just double click the square box, it should automatically fill down the correct number of rows.
