Leaky boot, not rear washer.

Featured Replies

Hey all.

When I opened my boot a few days ago, water ran out the plastic trim on the boot.

I can't for th life of me find out how it got in there. Its done it a few times since, so its not a one off.

Any ideas?

Easy way to make sure its not your waster is just squirt your washer for 30 seconds or so. Open the boot & if the sills are dry & no water coming out of the plastic boot surround then you know its not the washer.

I've done that. That's how I've ruled out the washer.

Dry out everything, and colour dye some water.

Using a watering can of some kind, pour water onto one small area/edge at a time around the tail-gate seal area.

Check each time, by opening the boot for leakage, and proceed to the next area/edge along.

Good luck

Mine leaks the exact same, has the car properly water tested and the water is coming in through the rear window below the wiper arm.

Glass isnt sealed properly!

Already done that. Can't "make" it leak, unless it rains

How about this, remove the large rear plastic trim panel & close the boot. Put the back seats down. Wait for it to rain. Get in the back of the car & try to see where the leak is coming from.

Is the little strap for pulling the boot lid down sitting over the rubber seal when the boot is closed? I found mine was doing this and letting a bit of water in as there wasn't a full seal all the way round. I solved it by shortening the strap with a cable tie so that it now can't interfere with the seal.

Have you got a sunroof?

Water drainage pipe comes down beside rear nearside lamp cluster, it should carrying on below lamp cluster to allow water onto the ground below.

It's only a shot in the dark!!
