At last!

Recommended Posts

Thanks everybody.

Yes, the color is petrol blue.

Unfortunately, I am at work till Tuesday, working long shifts; finish work everyday at half nine, hence I can't use the new car until Wednesday.

Therefore more pics coming then.

The sunroof doesn't open holding the button on the key, only windows do.

So far 90 miles yesterday with an average consumption 45 mpg.

Green stripe, few questions

1, can you show me the same view with the sunroof open.

2, does the sunroof open and close like the windows when you hold the button on your keys

The roof tilts when you press and hold the keyfob rather than slides all the way back, providing that you have set it to open with the windows as there are options. I'm not able to do that view for a couple of days but I will try to recreate it at home on my driveway tomorrow. The shade inside the car is manual (not motorised).

I can see the point about wrapping the rest of the roof, you wouldn't normally see the car from this angle and that's just not my thing. I like the way the glass at the top of the windscreen continues over the roof of the car.

I can't really answer your question re the noise level as I have never had a car with a sunroof before so I have nothing to compare it to, obviously there is some noise but it is fine for me driving at 70

Hi everybody, bad news. The left headlight unit is still on it's way, 5 days now. No one seems to know when it will arrive and when my car will be done. It means that I can only drive it during daylight hours and this excludes commuting.

I'll take it today for a spin and then again it will decorate my driveway for a few days. LOL

More pics will follow in the evening.

Any tips for running in?

Another problem: I managed to pair the mobile phone, which is a NOKIA Lumia, but the car doesn't upload the contacts list, hence it doesn't show on the screen who calls, just the number, as if unknown.

Can I manually add some of the contacts to the car phone book?

I would have thought the dealer should be providing a loan car as you cannot drive yours after dark. If not have you been in touch with Skoda customer care. Your car is not fit for purpose as you are not able to drive it at night. If neither are helpful maybe a move up the chain of command is required.

Having run in several new cars a good rule of thumb is not revving too high in each gear with smooth braking & acceleration.

Hope you get the lights sorted out quickly.

They offered a courtesy car, but I declined as I still have my old 56 plate octavia (which will become my girlfriend's main car).

Thanks for the tips.

I will give them a couple more days, then I will contact Skoda UK, as I bought the car to use it everyday as main car, not to keep it on the driveway or in the garage.

A few more pics.

Unfortunately, the weather, as well as the headlight issue stopped me from doing more.

Still no reply from Skoda regarding the headlight.

I tested the sunroof, it is less noisy then an open window; the comfort position is indeed very quiet, but the roof tilted is the quietest mode.

Anyway, with the music playing you can hardly hear any background noises, if any.

The start/stop works perfectly fine.

I tested the parking assist, it parks the car in far to many steps, but the surrounding sensors are brilliant.

Nearly a fortnight now and still nothing about the repair or change of the headlight.

I couldn't use the car since last Saturday.

I just asked again the dealer for an answer and now I'm waiting (again) for one.

Should I ring Skoda UK and demand explanations or wait a bit longer?

You are more patient than I would be given that the problem occurred on the way home from picking it up and the car is not legally driveable.

If the dealer is unable to give you a definite date, I'd say get onto Skoda UK straight away. If you register a complaint with them now, you've got a better chance of getting some focus on it if the delays persist.

I would be very annoyed and think that that is completely unacceptable, surely they could source a headlight from a stock vehicle if it is going to take that long to order a replacement part. I'd definitely ring head office.

Allegedly the unit is on order at Skoda UK since the day I collected the car, but no one seems to know when it will arrive.

Skoda UK hasn't come back yet.

I just suggested the use of a headlight from a stock car and now I'm waiting for an answer to this.

When you speak to Skoda UK ask them to email you the reason they are unable to supply a replacement & that you are going to "take the matter further".

I find that when you have been reasonable & no one appears to help, rattling their cage tends to focus minds.

This is pathetic!!!!!!

No, they can't use a headlight from a stock car!!!!!!!

They are expecting the new headlight around 4th of September, which is a whole month from ordering  it!!!!!!!!

Are they building the headlight manually from scratch?

If this is the way a big manufacturer like Soda is treating the customers ....

... than Skoda is not a brand I would recommend and probably this will be my last Skoda.

You are being very patient, but I think it is time to step it up & take some advice with a view to rejecting the car under "The sale of goods act" as not being fit for purpose. Speak with you local trading standards department. At the very least I would be expecting some compensation. Put the facts in an email & fire it off to the dealer & Skoda UK. The dealer is ultimately responsible as the seller. I would be in the dealer's showroom speaking with their MD preferably when it's busy with customers to cause as much fuss as possible.

Have they said why they can't use a stock vehicle as a donor? It only takes 3 weeks to get a whole car from the factory to the UK so why over a month for 1 headlight unit.

Try this, e-mail the CEO of Skoda UK (you can find his details online) and explain what has happened and how frustrated you are about not being able to drive your new Skoda. In most large companies, your mail will get passed onto a specialist customer service team that has more influence than the standard customer services. They may be able to get something sorted quicker or at least offer a gesture of goodwill.

If you do go down the route that Kalpat has said above, which i think is the best bet. do raise your voice but dont shout, make sure its loud enough for the whole showroom to hear. don't let them take you away to another part of the building or an office as this is a dealer trick to get you away from other new customers as not to loose any sales and get bad press. if you have no joy there and the car is on finace, give them a phone and tell them you are stopping the agreement due to the car not fit for purpose or road legal, its amazing what happens when the they get involved.

Strange - I have a Nokia Lumia (520) and as soon as I paired it it imported the contacts list and I was able to set up my main contacts as favourites with no issues at all on my Bolero unit, have you tried deleting the pairing and re-pairing?

You could try a factory reset on the info unit (it is a menu option in setup) but this will delete any other settings you have changed/amended so might be a last resort.
