VRS owners, A question

Featured Replies

If you sit at idle in the car with all ac, radio etc off, can you hear a little electrical sound that fluctuates, sounding almost like morse code at some points ???

That's the tracker you have fitted

The men in white coats are following you RUN ;-) lol

It could be ... although they'd have snatched me by now.

Serious question though. It sounds like it comes from centre vents.

Yes, Infact I just noticed this yesterday while messing about with my new torque app. Not very loud at all and was even making the noise just with the ignition on.

Yeh i have this. Mine gets worse if a code scanner is plugged in too

The sound is being generated by a computer

Sounds like your hearing its EM field being amplified - you normally need a speaker to hear this

Guess it could come of of the little speaker used for fuel bong, or seat belt sound

This sound can be a real PITA when using aftermarket amps etc.

I've heard it ever since owning the car, just wondered if everyone else's did it too really.

its when you start hearing the sound all the time you've got to worry

It's an early version of this, " the new VRS comes with a switchable sound generator."

I have a sound on mine, sounds like a mouse scratching about near the passenger footwell...it isn't though, only happens with engine on.

Thats probably the air con re circ flap.

Have a search there's plenty of info on here about it.

if you're hearing your car all the time you've either got tinnitus or it might be time to make a foil hat

I used to get something like this but since fixing the central locking on the drivers door it seams to have stopped

Strange. My door lock mechanism is borked too.

I wonder.

This is maybe why I never heard it before, as I had just plugged the scanner in!
