KKK How long?

Featured Replies

I am just wondering how much anyone has got from KKK ?

For me its 105k from 1st ownership and still going ! (despite y/day having done a solid 200 Mi mway journey and raped it all the way lol)

Having heard all the negs about the things I'd imagine to have problems by now but it isn't having any of it. Any chance they could have used a Garrett instead !! Or am I just (still) lucky !

122k - +/- 90k of that running 170bhp

Im on 112,168 at the moment, I believe the turbo to be the original KKK. A friends has just touched 100K also the original turbo, and that's been mapped for years.

It's a bit of a lottery to be honest.  A well serviced car should have no issues, but then there can be a dodgy batch, or you can simply be unlucky and some foreign body makes its way through the entire intake system and smashes up the blades.

Interesting, thanks ! They aren't all made of chocolate then ! (best be whispering that as you know you can go and shoot yourself in the foot saying these things)

Mine done 10k then got replaced under warranty, the one that was fitted went a couple of month ago at 87k, it actually went on a track day and that was the second I have done on it which won't have helped lol

i was wondering this the other day, mines an 07 plate on 63k, and wonder whether later models have slightly "luckier" turbos :)

Standard BLT ibiza but with decat downpipe mine did 84k then shaft snapped

Full seat fsh too

Had been noisy for around 50k

New garret gt17/20 hybrid v quiet compared to a kkk no more noise when on overrun due to the way the vanes are moved being different on a garrett.

I'll wade into this swamp of info yet again :)

My red car's turbo survived 128k including 3 track days, multiple sessions at the Combe meets and being remapped for almost 90k

Mrs Pasty's standard black car is on its third turbo in under 60k

If that doesn't highlight the randomness of the KKK then I dunno what does.

Blimey lol. Thats pretty fair. Does show it can be down to batches

120k and been mapped for 5yrs with not a problem, shouldn't have a problem if its serviced regularly

OK, not a vRS but a PD 100 running 125hp standard, 117 almost 118K miles now. All's I know is it spools up nicely. No EGR delete, No cat back, standard air filter etc etc.

FSSH up to 90K, only the correct spec oil used then serviced at local VAG specialists on time or before due.

The KKK on my PD100 lasted 148k miles (FSSH upto 110k) before a refurb to cure sticking vanes which lasted till 173k-174k miles
