European Driving Lights

Featured Replies

As I dont have the fancy lights :) trying to figure out how I change my beam so I dont dazzle those frenchies.

Spoke to dealer and they said they can do it for me, and that I should book it in; only problem is I go over 2-3 times a month; so I asked is there anyway I can do this myself and they said no.

However guy in parts depo said its just the flick of a switch??? Can anybody help???

Will go and have a play, thanks.

Oh bugger, that didn't work

Why not get the guy in the parts dept to show you the switch you have to flick?

just set the beam as if you have a fully loaded car. unless you are going to be doing lots of driving on unlit roads at night !

Doesn't it have a tourist mode in the computer's settings?

From the manual:

Tourist light
This mode makes it possible to drive in countries with opposing traffic system
(driving on the left/right) without dazzling the oncoming vehicles.
When the “tourist light” mode is active, the above-mentioned modes and the side
swivel of the headlights is deactivated.
The "Tourist light" mode can be configured in the Infotainment » operating in-
structions for Infotainment, chapter Vehicle settings (CAR button).

pretty sure thats only when youve got xenons.  on the mkii it was a physical switch in the light unit to change them over for halogen lights.

I don't think so, the manual doesn't mention that. I think it's there if you have the Intelligent Light Assistant, which the Elegance does.

Tourist mode (flattened beam) is just for Xenons, as far as I'm aware.

its here in the manual below

I assume the first section is for halogen lights where it has to be adjusted mechanically and the second is xenon with afs where its done in software

When driving in countries in which the traffic drives on the other side of the road

than in your home country, the asymmetrical low beam may dazzle oncoming

drivers. In order to avoid this, the headlights must be adjusted at a specialist garage.

?

?

You can adjust the Xenon headlights yourself by setting the "tourist light" mode

in Infotainment » Operating instructions for Infotainment, chapter Vehicle settings

(button CAR).

Spot on sworrall - that's what the OP needed.

ta dunc.

theres some guides in the thread below for the mkii where you could do it yourself.  bit of a faff but easier than taking it to the dealers every time.

hopefully the same can be done on the mkiii

Well another step back on the MK3, from the MK2 with having to pay the dealer to setup your lights to go abroad & reset when you get back.  :x

I would be tempted to set the lights for fully loaded & buy some cheap stick on adapters.

Think I'd have to agree its a lot easier to just buy the stick on adapters lol

Hmm, going to through a lot of stick on adapters as I go over the channel 2-3 times per month.

Spoke to parts guy and he said to gain access the light unit has to come out and thats the bumper off !! Then he said wait until you have to change a indicator bulb, nightmare he recons.
