Electric folding wing mirrors

Featured Replies

Thought these were standard on the elegance? Are they an option add on? If so how much?

Depends on which country and trim level. In the UK they are standard on the Elegance/L&K and have been since June 2011/MY12. This function replaced the dimming drivers mirror function which had previously been standard; from MY12 it became part of the elec seat option instead.

Just driven an elegance nov 2011 and didn't have it - where are the controls for it? The mirrors only had movement and heat controls on the door console

yes the folding mirror function should be on the rotary mirror control; wonder if the vehicle in question is old dealer stock :wonder:

Would check the chassis number; 10th digit would be a letter C for MY12 or if old MY11 stock then B.

It's ex demo but still born in Nov 2011

Can be a big difference in date of manufacture and registration, so the Yeti may have been built before June and the change in spec, then sat in the dealers showroom for a while before going on to demo in November :wonder:

so would chassis number reveal all? Calling dealer now

Yes you need to confirm that 10th digit which is the model year. If it is a MY12 then it's been built incorrectly which also happens; seen a couple of Yeti's with leather seats but no seat heating :S

10th letter is B

just checked

what does the mean?

It is a MY11 built before June 2011 as suspected. So its built to the same spec as mine, hence not having the folding mirrors.

Dealer told me Nov 2011  :wonder:

  :wait:

how much to retrofit?

Cheaper just to fold in manually - hardly a big task!

Yes it’s registered in Nov 2011 and that’s all the dealer is bothered about but it’s not actually a Nov 2011 spec.

Probably to expensive to retro fit and maybe even not technically possible due to the complexities of the modern car and the various differing control units needed for particular equipment.

If folding mirrors are a must be better looking at another Yeti, otherwise use the old stock/spec as a leaver to get a better deal.

Spot on Plumber cheers

I think someone said that they open out when you start moving anyway, so they may not have been much use to your situation Yetski?

How will they open out on their own If they're not electrically operated?

I am talking about the ones that are electrically operated....obviously  :hi:

So you can't drive with them folded in?

I'm pretty sure that's what I read on here. Perhaps they were talking about using the remote to fold them though.

So I've just tested them (up and down my driveway like somebody demented  :giggle: )

I can confirm that if you fold them in using the switch on the door you can drive and they stay folded.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for testing! :)

Perhaps it was that you have to be stationary before they will fold  :wonder:

I think the answer is that if you fold them after you park, using the key fob, they come back out when you move away.  Fold them using the knob thing and they stay down while you are driving. They open out when you restart and move away.

Marie - did you handle the knob thing?

Basically, yes - but they actually come back out when you turn the ignition on rather than when you move away.

To be clear all I want is the ability to stop outside the narrow bricked lined drive to our property with the engine still running, flick a switch to fold them in and continue 20ft or so to the house. Without doing this I'd have about 10mm spare on each side
