MFD Why does it change subject indiscriminately

Featured Replies

I'm hoping some of you experts can help with a mild annoyance on the MF display on my 2012 Octavia.

As I'm not much interested in anything other than the "RANGE" of petrol left in the tank, I try to leave the display on "RANGE" all the time.

What I find is that from time to time the Octavia seems dissatisfied with the boredom of this and changes to AVERAGE SPEED, DISTANCE TRAVELLED etc. at a whim.

Is this artificial intelligence at work or am I doing something to change things without knowing it ???

Have you got a MFSW? maybe hitting the switch?

Thanks Dallan yes I do and this sounds very feasible doesn't it?

Yeah i dont have MFSW so it never changes unless i click it, but i noticed on one of the staff cars that has MFSW it can be changed with the rocker :)

Tom, mine does this as well.  Range and mpg are the last things I want to see as they are the most (only) depressing thing about the car, so I leave mine in something else, but sometimes on start up the car just wants to taunt me and shows range or MPG...

I need to find a place local to Gloucester where I can get the MFD to show the large speed display, which is by far my favourite option.  On my old Q5 you could just select it on the settings.

Yes the MFSW roller buttons are v sensitive and not particularly recessed....bit of arm twirling often results in the MFD being changed, sometimes the volume being muted/ turned up or down

Bit of a tatty cheap fix, but may work temporally to eliminate your inadvertent switch twiddling, put a small piece of Sellotape over the switch/ roller.
