New order. Old tricks?

Featured Replies

Be gentle :-) New hope to be Yeti owner.

Went into a local dealer to order a new 63 plate Yeti 4x4 140 SE Plus. While we were completing the vehicle order the salesman came back in and said the Yeti we had agreed to buy had been acquired by another dealer as he was inputting the details. He said he will find another and it will still be in time for September/October. Rang today to see if we could upgrade the spec to an Elegance to see if that will make one easier to locate and he has now told me that none are available only two 'Adventure Spec' which will not be available under the 0% finance. Smoke and mirrors or is it difficult to get one at the moment?

You'll get there Jimbo, trust me.   ;)

If the one he was talking about has gone, then he will have to order another one.

Unfortunately, Skoda are giving the Yeti an update, and it may be that the existing model is no longer being produced and Salespeople are 'steering' you towards already built models in an 'attempt' to make way for the updated model when it puts in an appearance.

I don't think it will be a major update, but cosmetic tweaks here and there.

Welcome to the forum as well. :)

Keep a stiff upper lip too. :D

We did Talk about the 'Facelift' 2014 model and was told that it will be available in early 2014. I really do not wish to wait that long. Just in case our summer ends with a week of Autumn and a Winter that lasts from November to April

The FL (FaceLift) version is probably not going to be available to order until at least November I would have thought (but difficult to know for sure). Also don't know how good a deal on the old (= current) model you were looking for from your existing dealer, given that it's now effectively a run-out model, but I'd have suggested that that 10% off list would be around the ballpark (though of course this might be complicated by finance etc). But the Yeti is still likely to be in demand to an extent so the deals probably won't be too spectacular.

As Macdemon says, the FL is probably only going to be a relatively minor update, though it's certainly expected to be cosmetically distinct and hence recognisable as the 'new model'. So I'm not sure you should be paying 100% full whack for the current model. But only you can judge whether the current model at a significant discount (as a bird in the hand) or the refreshed version with less discount would be the better buy.

Well said than man.

(thanks pro data :))

How about attempting to push to see if they'll do the Adventure on 0%, or discount one so that you "save" the same amount under the increased solution interest rate? I was told that I couldn't get the Adventure on 0% but I only asked once, as I was able to secure an order on an SE Plus (plus one extra, light assist/auto dimming mirror) with a discount and the 0%/3 year service deal. I don't know if you've seen the Adventure but it's a fab looking vehicle, especially in Candy white.

Why can't you get 0% on an Adventure Spec?

Surely it's going to be registered for you now, or there a small print slippery detail that all Adventure models are not on 0% like other Yetis?

The adventure is excluded from the 0% offer, it says so on the skoda uk website. Probably because its a special edition model.

Had the same problem, thought I had bought a Petrol Blue Elegancy on a Saturday only to be told on the Monday it had been sold the same day at another dealers, so much for computers and upto date list, fortunately the dealer came through with Sharky, otherwise it would have been an order and 3 month wait. Would have liked an adventure in candy white but diesel engine no good for my type of driving pattern, needed to be petrol.

As an aside, I love the brief "mottos" that are sometimes included after a post.......but in this case, should it be " Sick of cliques ? Join the club"     Not "Cliches"  or am I wrong again?

Have been told by a good friend at Skoda that the delivery time for Yeti is now 15 weeks and this is for the facelift model

So the question is, when does pre FL production stop and FL production start. I ordered my pre FL yeti on 27/07 and have been given an estimated delivery of 30/10.

Week 45 someone said on here previously, which should be w/b 4th Nov (if it's a standard week numbering scheme).

Thanks for the replies. If I have to wait because none of the current models are available and can only order a new FL model. Would I be able to insist on not paying any increase in price?

If they haven't got any of the old version left to sell, I doubt they'd give you a discount on a new version

Unlikely, no prices or specs available for the FL yet but dont expect dealers to bend over backwards to give you a discount.

I have a contract order to supply the spec. It was signed, agreed and deposit paid before it was found that the vehicle was not now available. Will this make a difference?

Maybe best to check with trading standards on where you stand, also if you order a Yeti surely they should be able to tell you if you are getting a pre FL or FL version.

When did you sign the contract? Someone posted last week that the uk allocation of pre FL yeti's had been reached and dealers werent taking any more orders. Perhaps the salesman was unaware at the time?

Can be either to be honest, but now you mention it.....................it's time it was changed.

Watch that space.  ;)

The order was signed on Friday 09/08/13. The order was for a pre FL model

Edited by Jimbo55

It would probably be argued that the dealer accepted and processed the order in all good faith, only to be stymied by an order being entered by another dealer a few microseconds ahead.  If there isn't another suitable item in the system and the production line is closed, that's that.   Sympathy, but the latest leaked FL looks OK - let's hope the mechanical spec options are acceptable, too.

I put my deposit down (and have a new vehicle order form dated as such) on the 8th of August 2013. The form states it is for a Yeti Hatch (2013) SE Plus with a reg date of 31/10/2013, which is the estimated delivery date I was quoted by the sales person. I guess this means that I'm getting a pre-FL, or does anyone think this may not be the case?

Hmmmm interesting, I ordered my Yeti 2.0TDi 140 4x4 on 12th August, paid the deposit and have a receipt for that but apart from a phone call on the 16th August to ask if I wanted blue or silver stitching, I've not received a new car order form or anything.

I was given a delivery estimate of 8 - 10 weeks (07th - 21st October).

Having never ordered a new car before I've assumed (possibly foolishly) that Skoda Warrington are doing everything that they should, but now I'm wondering ........ should I have a form or paperwork detailing exactly what I'm expecting to collect in 9 weeks ish?

I have had a copy of the order form with both my Yeti purchases.
