Coilovers/Springs and Heavy Loads

Featured Replies

Yet another coilover threat, but I couldnt find this point covered anywhere.

Been saving and deciding what to do about lowering my car, split atm over getting AP coilovers or just Eibach springs.

Point is I go camping in Croyde Bay in Devon every year, specifically last week. The vRS was packed to the roof with camping gear and as such was looking low at the back.

What would the situation be with Coilovers or springs? would it cause me any problems? I assume with coilovers I would need to raise them up before loading the car?

AP coilovers have stiffer springs than just the eibach Pro's.

I used to carry the bands gear in my golf on coilies and it was fine. The fabia would just the same. Coilies are made for everyday use. And that will include full car fulls every now and then

Out of interest if the springs were the wrong weight for the car what would happen?

Can't really have wrong stiffness as such. Too weak and you'll have excessive roll, dive and run out of travel. See stiff and the chassis becomes the spring.

I use to run eibach tdi springs (no vrs ones available at the time) as they were not as stiff as the oem ones it made the front lower.

If it ain't rubbin.......

Would it cause a nocking? Lol still have mine

I've got my furby on JOM coilieys wound about half way down atm. Took her camping the other weekend.

Had an big old 6man canvas tent in the back and although she sat a little lower at the back, she didn't rub and didn't handle any differently either :)

I have the Eibach springs. Went camping two weekends ago with no issues.

4 man tent, gazebo, disposable bbqs, beers, bags of ice etc.

Im just driving empty lol nock....

Nock.....nock...nock haha
