Soon to be no longer a Skoda owner

Featured Replies

I dont have a problem with it at all.  And as for the Octy price, If I was spending £23K on a car, the Octavia would not be high on my list.  It is a great car, but much of its appeal is from it being cheaper than a Gulf/A3.  Yes I admit I did not realise that ordinary Mercs are now coming being described as AMG.

The AMG badge is being used like a 335M say, rather than the real full fat M3. You get one or two bits that might be a little more related to an AMG model than the standard kit on an Elegance model etc. Certainly if I wanted a BMW that was similar to my MB I would probably have had to look at the 3XXM models. The body kit certainly apes the real AMG C class quite a lot, but ultimately the engines are stock. It is a cynical move imho and cheapens the great AMG badge, but they are all doing it nowadays, so I guess Merc though why not :(

As for the augment as to whether an MB is nicer than a Skoda, I believe mine certainly is and I did have my Octy for many thousands of miles to make that comparison. But of course I pay more per month for my MB (although not that much more, considering the cash price is over double that of my Octy). Also this is only my opinion and the car certainly wouldn't be big enough for the Superb brigade or flexible enough for the Yeti stalwarts,  Does the MB have a bigger boot than an Octy? No, is it as economical? almost. Is it as cheap to run? not really. Is it as good in the snow? no way :D but does it feel nicer to drive? oh yes. Is it quicker? definitely. Does it have more toys? you bet. It's a great car, but so was my Octy in it's own way and I would have no probs going back to the Skoda fold when the time comes to change my current car, although the value for money my MB represents for 'what it is', beats the deal I had on my Octy by quite a bit (the deal no longer exists it would seem, so I just hit lucky with the MB). I just like my MB more at the moment than a similar Skoda, that's all.

Whats wrong with the Beemer?!......

The BMW looks nice :) I love that particular colour

C63. Yum. I'd work for the devil if I could have one of those as a company car! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

I won't upset you then and say I have a C63 at work as part of the work fleet cars.

It's just really bland, the interior feels quite cheap, it's not even got i-drive

My C class has more torques than the C63
