Featured Replies

these are quite commonly sold on fleabay and at our local sunday market, these guys are frequently busted 'modding' xboxes and PS2's while you wait.

I have a 'remapped' xbox, which was done before the law was changed and is soley used for playing my own original backed up games mr investigator. But tbh i wish i had bought the PS2 xbox is pap.

I don't think it was the rechipping that he was done for, but the 80 games he put on the hard drive after he'd chipped them!

And the plonker sold them via his website.

I wish to mod my xbox but to act as a media centre or wot sit box, not play games since it's dvd is fubar'd, but network connection and interface is fine :D

Must admit daft sap selling via website...Not like it would of been hard for the new owner to go to a rental shop...

The code (BIOS) often used to run the chips is hacked MS code, that coupled with the games on the HD would have been the nail in his coffin.

There has been much debate about the legalities of chipping consoles, ultimately if you own it and want to jump up and down it and smash you can, so why not modify it it's your property. The law was written to cover devices used to defeat copy protection.

Yup...did that, still didn't work...

Been meaning to mod it for umm a good 12 months now...but it's just too good a foot rest.

When the PS2 was flavour of the month a few years back, Sony fought and won a case against UK modders, successfully argueing that it was against their intellectual property to make any changes to its machine....bios or whatever. That is the main reason the PS2 died almost in the chipping games, and why the X-Box became the success it is.

Expect to see more of this.

Remember that

Say someone i know was to get their xbox modded to store a few extra games (uploaded by modder, say 50+ games) how much would it cost him??

Wow - thats a wildcard question.

IIRC a chip will set you back about

I will pass that on to my friend. I think he wanted to know if he could chip his xbox so as he could hire games out and copy them onto the hard drive.

That may be entirely possible

I just want to say that with gross $30billion on console market this year,

it is at least offensive to see such things happen in the name of lost profits...

shame on profit maximizers!!

lets hang them!! yeah!

on another note, i got 2nd xbox just to race forza motorsport on xbox live

my other xbox is of course chipped

you know what happened?

forza disk got dirty, took a while to load a track on live, and xbox live said "software or hardware modified" and cut me of the live

such a..hol.s
