Removed badges, need advice on cleaning and filling

Featured Replies

Hello, removed all the badges off my car today, the back though have left some residue that i'm struggling to get off with heat, solvents, plastic cards and polish etc...

So i tried using some 2000 grit wet and dry and now its slightly cloudy where the FABIA text used to be... Been informed I should just be able to polish it all out and get a nice glossy flat finish again using some Farcela G3... Is this right? What would people recommend?

Below pic shows the residue i'm struggling with. Also what methods / guides should I follow to filling the holes properly where the rear SKODA badge used to be?:

You could try having it polished by a local detailer?

This happened on a previous car of mine, I tried loads of things but in the end stuck the badges back on. It's almost as if there was very small particles of paint removed with the badge.

You could get it blended in at a body shop also.

Wen i done mine i used some autoglym paint renovater and that sorted it out.... as for the holes i dunno i put a new badge over mine

This happened to mine and even with wet sanding and polishing it couldnt be removed :(

Im looking at getting the back end sprayed but depending on costs may just put the badge back on.

Not looking good so far then...

If you're removing the middle badge it'll all need painting anyway once the holes have been filled

Same happened when I removed my badges. Even after wet sanding and polishing with a DA the outline was still there so I just ended up putting on new badges. If your going to the the holes where the middle badge was filled the whole boot lid will need spraying so you could get the body shop to smooth out the outline of fabia

Been quoted £120 today to sort back end out.... looking like i might just be replacing the badges with some clean new ones if I can't find anything better.

Think i'v decided to go with putting new black and chrome badges on. Also starting to experiment with polishing with and electric mop using G2 product.

Left photo shows the car polished, right side not.
