Stereo not keep stations stored

Featured Replies

Hi

I've just taken the original Skoda tape player out and replaced it with a pioneer I had lying around.

Took some trouble removing the old one and fitting the new one.

Works all well and good but doesn't keep any of the stations that I've programmed in.

The other one I took out you turned on and off at the stereo regardless of if the keys are in or not.

But this one comes on and off with the ignition as any normal stereo does.

Just wondered if anyone knew how to remedy it. Doesn't really bother me but it does if that makes sense.

Thanks Dave.

Out of interest what are the cables?

The stereo worked fine in the other car I took it out of.

Permanent +ve and switched +ve are the other way around on VAGs. This means the supply that retains the memory is switched off.

Will get it done tonight after work.
