Glove Box Light - how do you put it back together?!

Featured Replies

Hey all

I tried taking the glove box light out earlier to stick and LED bulb in, and the thing disintegrated in my hand!

I've got no idea how these go back together, can anyone help?

Thanks in advance!

Danny

There are a few pics of assembled ones on here and on vw forums but its bloody fiddly and takes some patience.

isnt it the same as the light in the door? Could take one of those out and copy

Ah, that's pretty useful actually, cheers.

Not as far as I am aware. Door light doesn't have (the same) spring clip.

I had this fun too, bought a mk4 golf one on ebay (its the same) for 2 quid after spending an hour with it and still not getting anywhere seems like a single use item!

You could pull one of the light in the luggage compartment out and have a look. I seem to remember that they look (almost?) the same as the one in the glove compartment.

Good luck anyway!

they aint the same, the one in the glovebox has a switch thats pushed on and off with the hinge of the glovebox door

Mine is in bits too after fitting my iPhone kit :(

I managed to fix mine, as you say they seem to come apart a lot easier than to put back together again. The spring is the hard bit as it is the conductor and has to be bent round on itself.

Look at these pictures, they do help:-

I had that problem only a couple of weeks ago. I found some images on an Audi forum showing how to orientate the spring into the correct position.

Eight hours later I gave up and ordered a replacement unit from Ali Express. £4.27 delivered.
