Goodyear vector 4 seasons

Featured Replies

Has anyone used these are they any good ?

In the reviews they seem to come out top mostly. Great if you want uni-directional. The two runners-up often seem to be Hankook Optimo 4S and Vredestein Quatrac 3 - neither are unidirectional, and my preference for cars that have a full-size spare.

The reviews seem to suggest they're all pretty close, and it is as much to do with your performance preferences as anything else. For example, is wet grip more important than snow or ice traction, or the other way around? And so on for a range of other characteristics.

Wasn't specifically after 4 season tyre just like you the reviews look good , my initial thoughts for new shoes where Michelin or Bridgestone Turanza but these came up and winter will soon be here, I've always toyed with the idea of full winters just thought these may be a good compromise

My/our experience is that decent all-season tyres, (e.g. any of the three I've mentioned but maybe some others as well), are hugely better on snow, ice and frosty roads than normal tyres although not quite as good as friction winter tyres. Similarly they're not quite as good as normal tyres on the hottest summer days but, again, they're more than good enough.

We've had Quatrac 3s on a Felicia - work well on muddy fields - and on an old Alfa rwd V6 and have been happy with both. Enthusiast driving friends have been happy with the Goodyear. We have normal and winter sets for our Octavia, and while the Octavia on winter tyres inspires more confidence the other cars on all-season tyres have got everywhere we've taken the Octavia.

I have them on my Fabia just now. They were very good in the winter, high levels of grip in slush/light snow and have also worked fine during the warm summer weather. Don't seem to have worn too quickly either.

I'd recommend them, though they have gone up in price recently. Vredestein Quatrac 3's are abut £10 cheaper just now.

My lad ran them all year round, no matter what the weather, on his previous Fabia I HTP and they were very effective. Also a number of Yeti owners have them fitted in the 225/50 R17 size, as they wear well and work far better than the standard factory supplied summer rubber.

I'm sold its the Goodyear vector 4 seasons for me , once continental gives me the go ahead and takes there crappy tyres away :)

Will fitting all season tyres void the insurance if the speed rating is lower then that of the original tyres?

I don't think tyres will void insurance ? As long as they are the same size ?

Indeed.

We are impressed.

It shouldn't, provided that they still meet the manufacturer's recommendation. The Kia we have came on Ws but the manual states they only need to be H or better, so no problem with winter tyres.

Cheapest Vector 4 Seasons I can find on Mytyres.co.uk for my SE are 94V XL at £104, but my existing tyres are 91V.  Will the 94V XL have a harsher ride or noisier? I assume because the loading is higher, it would be OK with my insurance company!?

Yes, it will be fine, they just can't be lower.
