3 Beeps and a handbrake warning under accerelation?

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Bit of an odd one this, and something the searches haven't seemed to help.

Over the last couple of months, my 54 plate VRS has started bleeping at me (3 n total) and flashing up the handbrake warning light at me whenever I put my foot down, sometimes even just moderate acceleration. This could be during an overtake or pulling out from a junction to get into the flow of traffic as swiftly (not just ragging it!!). If it was the traction control light I could understand but it isn'y, and it also does it with the traction control turned off.

Any ideas for starters??

Ta muchly.

How much brake fluid is in the reservoir? Might be getting low and setting off your brake warning....maybe?

defo low fluid level

Okley dokley, will check it out tmo. Cheers y'all.

It's fluid issues. I had a calliper issue with mine and I was losing fluid thought it.

Check and top up fluid first

mine was a hub issue needed replacing

A faulty handbrake switch can also cause this.

Well, checked the fluid levels which seemed a little low, so topped it up. Managed to eek in a whole 250ml bottle!!!! So guess it was a little on the low side

Just take it for a wee country blast and the beeping is no more - great suggestions y'all!

Though I do have to be honest and say I will miss my little ASBO warning system a wee bit ;-)

Now you need to find the leak and mend it.

Might not be a leak, just aerated fluid.

Mine did the same thing after a "spirited" drive through the back roads which resulted in me setting my brakes on fire and near boiling my fluid  :giggle:

Since I replaced the fluid (along with all 4 brake discs and all 4 sets of pads) I've had no issues.
