Candy White vRS ordered

Featured Replies

Just ordered the above.

Candy White vRS estate, anthracite wheels,

Options are -

Heated seats,

Sunset glass,

Black design package,

Amundsen Nav,

Colour maxi dot,

Front assist,

Rear side air bags (might have to have crew protection as well with the air bags),

Space saver,

Cruise,

1yr extra warranty.

And then the missis asked for electric boot opening for a freebie - and got it! Nice one!

The sales guy told me the spare is a full size steel wheel as I mentioned I didn't want to puncture a tyre and have to drive about on a thin space saver. The spare for the 18" alloy wheel is a 16" steel wheel.

Problem is it won't fit over the front wheel as the front discs on the vRS are 17". So - if you puncture the front tyre, you first have to put the spare wheel from the boot onto the rear axle, then put the good wheel from the rear axle onto the punctured front axle.

18" steel spare anyone? As I'm typing this the missis has just said she thought the space saver in the showroom car was a skinny one. Hmmm might have to pop back in for a butchers.

sounds very nice :)

Ive just recently checked out the skinny/full size thing and its definitely an 18" skinny as I checked with a new vrs owner on here and the demo at Mitchells in Ellesemere Port.  tyre size is 125/70 R18

I was going to swap out my spare with the gunk package which I thought was scuppered by the bigger brakes but youve just put me on the new route of moving wheels around to fit the 16" on the back :)  thanks!

Enjoy your new car. When's the delivery date?

Also the brake discs aren't 17" on the front, that's a typo in the brochure. They are bigger than the 312mm discs fitted to the Mk2 Octy vRS though.

If they are bigger than the Octy 2 vRS discs, then I don't think 16s will fit.

My winter wheels are 16" and only just (just!) fit over my brake calipers.

Enjoy your new car!!

Depends how much bigger. Thought is it's the same setup as the Superb 3.6 V6, which uses a 345mm setup unless I'm mistaken.

Bigger discs than 312mm will physically fit behind a 16" wheel, but there are then issues with caliper size and setup, and possible interference with the back of the wheel spoke, dependant on wheel design.

The one I test drove had a spacesaver....

I think they all will have.

Don't think a 'full size' 16" will be available directly on the Octy3. There's then the question of whether you can fit one in the floor recess, if you wanted to...

I've just gone and seen a 4x4 2.0 TDI Combi in Bucharest and it had a full size 205/55/R16 spare wheel (steel). But be warned, that wheel size will not fit on the VRS (on the front anyway).

PS: It didn't have the trick double boot floor, if it matters to anyone.
