Anyone used Formula 1 Autocenters for a geo check?

Featured Replies

Do they do a good job?

do they do what they say on their site and check and adjust it all?

I need my castor and camber sorting on the fabia as it pulls slightly, ever so slightly but still pulls, I need it doing ne way as Ive put all the std  suspension back on.

I used ATS in Eastleigh last week after putting my new suspension on. I went in and told them what I'd done and asked them to check the tracking. With the info I gave them they could easily have said 'yeah it's way out, leave it with us and come back later with £40, mate'. But no, 10 minutes later the bloke came back and said 'it's fine, well within tolerance'

No charge whatsoever.

Would I use them again? Yes

Did they try and fleece me? Nope.

I used them on Mrs Pasty's car for new Uniroyals and when we changed the tyres we found the front inner shoulder all but bald.

To avoid me munching through the tyres they offered me a discounted alignment check

stuck it up in the air

gave me a print out showing one wheel way out and all others ok

corrected the problem

new print out

pay bill

leave

Depends which one I suppose. I used the one in Chatham, went back twice and in the end got a full refund after having to complain to the area manager. Finally went to a Nissan GTR specialist with the full Hunter rig and charged me half the amount for a job well done.

Had an F1 auto centre do a hunter check on my Octavia last year.

They produced a print out of the geometry and discussed it with me before making any adjustments. They did a good job.

Someone I work with took their mini to the branch in Burton for an mot. It failed and she was told it needs £300 worth of suspension work doing. She wasn't happy so took it to another garage and it passed, not even any advisories.

Not all F1 Autocentres have rigs capable of doing a full geometry check.

I went to my nearest one and asked - they had a hunter alignment rig but apparently it was a basic/older model that could only do toe, not caster/camber.

Worth phoning up to check what your local has and what they can do.

Mmm cheers

A hunter kit tells all. Its just the crappy operators that cant do the job right. There are 2 places in cardiff with the top hunter kit but both are crap and only interested in getting cars on n off for a quick buck.

I went to an F1 auto centre in Telford, West Mids. Had new tyres and a wheel alignment. They did such an awful job that I drove off and the steering wheel wasn't even in a straight line when I was going forward in a straight line.

It took then several attempts to fix it and in the end I also went else where to be 100% certain. I complained to the regional manager and got a pathetic apology a refund for the alignment and some vouchers. I won't be returning to use them!

Used them to get alignment done on my Mk 1 fabia 1.2 after I had the bushes replaced (and the dealer didn't bother to mention this would need doing afterwards- was the first car I had so didn't know any better).  They did a good job and the mechanic even took the time to show me and explain what he was doing. Wheel was straightened afterwards as well.  I think it only cost about £30.

I've never had a problem with them, but people I've talked to say the opposite.
