Double din stereo

Featured Replies

Hi

Could anyone reccomend a good double din stereo to fit MK1 octavia vrs, are they simple to fit or does it require some work?

I can't give any recommendations, I'm looking into this myself. (Been looking at the android based ones).

They should fit fine. The only trouble you'll have is getting the space behind it for the wires. I had this trouble when fitting my single din, had to remove the glovebox and pull the wiring through the back

Yeah deffo remove the glove box for better access, its only about 5/6 screws. i too have been looking at double din, maybe a pioneer or sony.

I used to have An alpine w502r fitted in mine was brilliant however I got fed up with the glare even when the brightness was dimmed so I've gone back to an alpine single din

I would recommend alpine head units then second with pioneer however I wouldent touch a Sony to save my life the build quality is sh** IMO

just fitted the new pioneer double din app radio that runs off iphone/android and only had to cut out a small section of plastic at the back about 3" long.tonnes of room behind for all the wires.

pioneer sph da02.mine is the iphone only model.the next one up is for iphone and android.

took a week to get used to it but now its ideal.if you don't plug your phone/ipod in it just uses the radio and your phone links with Bluetooth for all the hands free which is a spot on system as you have the full screen as your phonebook.

once you plug it in there are free pioneer apps that let you have satnav, pictures, music etc from your phone on the screen.

just shame taking it out at the weekend as selling the car and wont fit in new one so will be up for sale.
