PD150 hybrid turbo help.

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have changed my mind, and not getting rid. I was considering the Darkside big budget turbo kit but with a clutch it's too much, especially when saving to move to a larger house in the future.

So I'm going the hybrid pd150 route, can get all the bits at a more leisurely rate ie run new turbo on existing map until I decide and get the dosh for whoever to map it up.

I'm ordering the Sachs SRE clutch and flywheel this week from Jabba.

People running above turbo can you explain the characteristics of the turbo and what you think.

I'm in discussions with AET turbos who are offering me a gt1756mv turbo, it's basically the same as a gt1749gb but with a 56mm compressor wheel.

Does anybody run one?

Also will a seat ibiza 2005 pd100 ATD engine Decat downpipe fit my car.

Many thanks Lee.

I read that the 56 wheel isn't ideal and its best sticking with the normal 52 as the turbine becomes the bottleneck. Think jabba lukes old car ran a 56 might be worth asking jabba.

Ok thanks for that, what sort of figures can I realistically achieve then on a decent map?

AET turbos have mentioned that the gt1749gb is only good for 190bhp?

Anybody got any ideas on the Decat downpipe? Will it fit?

Thanks.

Cheers for that Matt. Plan is to get the clutch fitted and brakes fitted, then whoever I get to map it can make the most out of it and not worry about the clutch and flywheel setup.

I'm already running a forge FMIC and Milltek car back and Jabba cone in a box.

I have emailed Jabba about it all but no reply as of yet.

For the set up you plan to run you don't need a downpipe upgrade.

T spark, I thought I would get a Milltek Decat fitted as the same time as the turbo and then it's on there ready for the new map.

Want to make the most of it, if that makes sense lol.

Stock exhaust system is fine as is the standard intake. All the pd130 needs is bigger turbo and FMIC. Maybe a bigger cold air feed like a pd160 pipe. Other than that just the clutch and flywheel to cope with the torque unless you limit it.

I personally think the standard vb turbo is good for high 180s to low 190'sbhp

Thanks for that, so is it possible to get a reliable 200bhp out of one of these turbos ?

As that's the ballpark figure I would like I guess.

I'm also running the pd160 air snorkel.

So would this make the turbo laggy?

i like this alot Lee!

I have no personal experience, only what I've heard. Check out tdiclub.com. Loads of info on there.

Are you going to the Castle Combe meet? I'll take you for a spin in my gtb1756 turbo'd Fabia if you like?

For 200bhp you would be spending money on bits you dont NEED. If you want to thats allowed lol.

But standard downpipe is good for 230bhp+ (I have ran over 240bhp and 480lb.ft on the Ibiza with a standard downpipe)

My Fabia has around 200bhp and has a standard downpipe and exhaust.

what turbo have you got on?

Running 198.6bhp on a pd150 turbo in my leon

My fabia made 173bhp mapped on the same rr which is known to be accurate so 200bhp on a stock 150 turbo is possible

what turbo have you got on?

On the Fabia with 200bhp just a basic PD150 hybrid affair.

On the Ibiza, something else :P

So you can get 190-200bhp on a fabia with a FMIC and PD150 turbo?

Im on stock clutch and flywheel but its only 6 months old. Im using darksides seat sport fmic kit and there custom remap and they said it should easily achieve 190+ bhp.

Would I be best asking them to limit the torque or will it be ok providing I drive it correctly?

That's what I want to know really if a stage 1 pd150 hybrid will just push over the magic 200bhp.

As AET turbos have said its good for only 180bhp?

Puzzled lol.

Yes you can get to there or there abouts 200bhp on a stock 150 turbo!

Fmic obviously recommended!

Im still on stock clutch and zero slip at 111k miles!

Its strange as anything as my 130 fabia vrs blew its clutch at 37k miles remapped!

(Must have had a friday afternoon clutch)

Cheers Jase think I'm going to order the stage1 with the 49mm compressor wheel and get Jabba to map it on their rolling road.

Don't you mean 52? 49 is stock.
