Oh this good, i shall read more into it. I think i bought tickets for last year or early this year but had to work :(

I'm jealous, i used to have a 182, most fun car i've ever had!

That looks fantastic!

Me and my mate in a 172 cup on track, was a funny day!

To OP looks a nice example you have their.

^ video sure looks fun, me and my bro are looking to go halves on a Clio sport 172 cup to do some track days in next year and fettle a little bit lol. Great handling little cars straight out of the box and a few budget mods can make them a fairly good track weapon.

I will own one of these one day. Any more pics?

that cup is standard other then ds2500's just running on 195 t1r's

The clios are great cars, see loads at trackdays and they are always going well and being driven hard.

As a car you can drive off the road onto a track I dont think there is much that can compare for fun. Im always envious of them.

Not sure what that guy in the GT3 was doing. Thats a quick car going to waste.

Same as mine then!

Ill try and get some pictures uploaded soon but ATM its sat in garage waiting to get taken to bits..bad misfire which is playing hide and seek :(

The earlier clio's are actually even more fun on track even though they have less power. The 1.8 16v for example is only 137hp and does 0-60 in 8 secs but the figures don't do it justice, the williams which is essentially the same car with 2.0 bottom end and slightly better suspension setup is a hoot!!!!.

The cliosport is also supreme on track but doesn't feel as raw and the feedback through the controls aren't as visceral. Iv'e had lots of clio's & cliosports and modified a few so if you have any questions ill be happy to help. The thing i loved best about all my old clio's is being able to throw them into a corner at high speed and **** the back wheel up, they corner almost flat with no body roll. you can even get lift off overstear mid corner if you like using corrective steering to get all 4 wheels sliding. . There really isn't more fun to be had with clothes on.

P.S. The best tyres for the 172 on roads are Michelin Pilot exalto 2's these were what the car was developed on at Renaultsport in Dieppe iirc.

However i found for the track the Toyo semi slicks were about the best. Well done on your Purchase she looks a beaut!

Nice pictures, the white Audi r8 looks tasty in the background!

You need to go to nurburg during touristenfahrten, the R8's are like the corsa, their just too common

Just had a quick flick through and seams electrical to me but you clearly know way more than I do anyway so might not be of much help. I eventually switched from Renault to skoda for this exact problem electrical gremlins which ruined an otherwise rewarding experience. When I had mine they were pretty new aswell so they were typically rectified under warrenty but they even had the Renault senior tech's foxed at times. I had a gearbox and accessory belt pulley replaced on one Cliosport to fix a light on the dash but it still didn't cure it. I might be able to help on the exhaust front though sounds like you need a new system so I would go to Ktec racing. They made me a custom stealth exhaust tuned for quiet sound but good performance. It was a full stainless with CNC mandrel bends polished but you couldn't see it from the outside as the mk1 cliosport didn't have a cut out for the tail pipe it was hidden. I was gutted to see the person who bought it off me had ripped it out cut a hole in the bumper and stuck on a big bore magnex back box which sounded crap and was likely losing horsepower never mind. Defo give them a look though that and the pipercross viper made a big difference to an already punchy engine. From memory it got 184bhp on the Dyno just with them mods. I was in Cliosport.net club for many years and got quite a bit of help there might be worth checking out. Jase was the owner of the wesite, I went to Nurburgring with about 70 other club members and at least 3 of them were senior Renault techs one had a ClioV6 but cant remember his username. Ill try and contact some of the older members who had 172 cups see if any of them can shed any light on the issue.

Some Clio Porn :giggle:  - A few of my clio's sadly as you can see from the red valver some didn't survive my ownership I did tend to drive them to the limits they were intended and sometimes beyond.

I had a williams blue mk1 16valver, loved that car, stuck like you know what to a blanket and with induction kit one of the best NA engine noises of its era, easily.

My clio followed a 19 16V chamade, great car too until the exhaust fell of around centre pipe, sounded like a NASCAR then.

Moved from the clio to a Pug 306 GTI-6, now there is a great handling car, lift off oversteer anyone?!! :)

I love a bit of French

how did you not die in the red one???

how did you not die in the red one???

I had a passenger aswell we both climbed out un-injured well i had superficial glass cuts in my head from the broken sunroof and my friend had a broken pinkie but other thank that it was a miracle. Taught me a valuable lesson though & haven't had a crash since.
