What's the square/dome thing under the number plates on new Cars?

Featured Replies

Hi, As per the title I've seen a few VW golfs with a black square and a dome inside of it under the front number plate, also I've seen a similar thing on the new skoda Octavia VRs advert. What is it?

Yeah that looks it, cheers, I thought it was some sort of camera to be honest. Our ford S-Max's at work have radar cruise and collision alert/auto breaks but there's nothing visible to the front of the car.

So does that do the breaks too if you're going to hit something?

Does the front assist (from the online Octavia manual - page 8 of 25) do lane control as well? The dealer mentioned something about if it senses you drifting in the lane it takes you back to the middle of the lane, not heard of this before though.
