About market value for the headline item...

120Gb Maxtor DiamondMax 10 ATA-133 (7200rpm, 8MB) - PATA - Lead Free 49.28 inc vat will be better than a sammy...

So deals are ok yes :D

In store is a killer.

Same old Same ol from pc world. The offer prices are still dearer then most peoples normal prices.

In my experience, if the product is over

I'm not a particularly big fan of PC World, but I have found a few things to be cheaper from them with the web exclusive prices...and a lot of the stock has the option to collect in-store...so, you can get it at the web-exclusive price, and then go down to your local store and pick it up the same day.

Cheers

I did exactly that yesterday with my wireless router.

PCWorld offers are not always pap! I picked up an R300 printer just before Xmas for 84.99 which was the cheapest on the net and PCWorld seemed to be the only people who had them in stock :D You just have to keep an eye on their offers and know what you're buying! :D

Hi

Sort of just about on topic...

Some companies, eg Argos, do deals with manufacturers for models which are given a model number which is exclusive to them, so there can be no direct comparison with other vendors either Net or High Street and I guess one has to go on listed features and reviews on the Net of anything which looks similar.

Or maybe I'm talking through my hat as regards PC products?

Thanks

Mo

Thats one occasion.

While looking for my speakers (creative thx 2.1's) Pc world were selling for

You may get the rare bargain from them' date=' but anyone who uses them regularly to buy things from is bound to be ripped off at some point.

I prefer not to use them in the hope that one day they might have to offer some sort of value for money.[/quote']

I've bought switches, printers, scanners, routers and power supplies from them, all special offers. As I said earlier, if you know what you want and you know that you're paying a good price for it, then why not have the convenience of picking it up from a store?

Saying that, if you want a chuckle, go and stand by the laptops and watch their "experts" swoop on you trying to make a sale ;)

Chris

Very true :D

I like to go in and turn the machines off. :)

It does make me laugh in there sometimes - You see someone goes in clutching a newspaper add for a bargain PC. The assistant calmly tells them that their chosen model is unfortunately out of stock but they do have this other one which is actually a better deal (Yeah Right) becuase it comes with a free printer. They chuck on a bit of AV software, possibly office, some spare cartridges for the printer (Which would have almost certainly been a 'disposable' Lexmark one so the carts are expensive) and a USB printer lead (

Interesting mention of Aria, also cclonLine.com and overclockers are quite good for Net sales depending what they've got - and, as said, if you know what you want.

Any others?

Mo

Any others?

Haven't bought anything for a while, but have had good experiences with Dabs, Novatech and Altarmoore (www.altarmoore.com) ;) Bad experiences with Simply :(
