Felicia questions....

Featured Replies

Hi, newbie here.

I'm looking to get a new motor and was hoping to get a Mk2 golf gti but due to the amount of miles i'm going to be doing plus the running costs and insurence, I've decided to go for something a bit newer. I had thought about a Mk3 golf but I only want a Gti !!!! However, I would like VW standards so thought of either a Seat ibiza or a Felicia.

I'm not that bothered about how it goes but i wouldn't mind it looking half good. Are performance parts reasonably easy to get hold of for them ?

How many parts are interchangeable with a Mk3 golf (I believe the felicia was based on the Mk3!?)

Are there any specialist breakers where you can get hold of VRS parts (and could you fit, say, a set of Fabia VRS wheels ?)

Basically, I'd want to put a set of wheels on it and lower it a bit. MAybe make it look like a "Felicia VRS". I like the oem look so what other parts from cars in the VAG family fit ?

Any help on the above would be greatly appriciated.

Hmmm. I can totally recommend a 1.6 GLXi Felicia, facelift model of course.

The build quality is better than other small hatches of the same era, and the performance is really very decent. The spec is ok, but nothing to get excited about.

The engine is a VW one, but being a na petrol engine, tuning options are limited. It is however a quiet, refined and torquey engine.

Regarding interchangeable parts, not really a possibility. I'm sure a vRS steering wheel would fit, but its possible an expensive experiment! There are a range of bodykits and performance bits available... I had a white T reg 1.6, and loved it to bits. I never did get around to turning it into a WRC replica though. ;)

The Felicia is never going to be a GTi....

But I have to say they are extremely reliable, comfy and dependable cars.

The 1.6 isn't particulary quick but it feels very eager and seems to have loads of torque.

And the Felicia is not based on the MK3 Golf.

Its got a few Polo bits on it but not much.

thanks for the replies guys.

with regards to the vrs stuff, i was just wondering whether there were any skoda breakers where i could get vrs wheels. I like the OEM look and think it would look quite good.

Is it possible to put golf wheels on to a felicia ? do they use the same hubs ? or polo wheels ?

can anyone recommend anywhere to get tune up parts.

I know it will never be a gti but i wouldn't mind making it handle !

thanks again.

vRS wheels..5 stud

Felicia wheels..4 stud

MK2 Golf wheels and any other wheel that has a 4 x 100 PCD will fit.

p.s. lummox, where did you find your cupra wheels ?

and can i ask what i'd expect to pay for a set?

cheers

also which modal should i be looking to buy ?

what years are the ones to go for ?

and how much should i be paying ?

is there anything too pay particular attention too on them ?

sorry for the barage of questions but I'm eager to get something sorted.

I sold my 205 gti to a mate and I'm left running around in a heap of a renault 19 !!! the horror !

I got my Cupra wheels second hand off a guy on Seat Cupra.net

Paid

I echo Lummox. A facelifted 1.6 in a good spec for under a grand sounds the business.

thanks guys. i'm in the trade so hopefully I should be able to pick myself a bargin.

I like the look of the seat wheels, especially in anthracite. they could be an option !

have you ever seen any other striking wheels on them ? i was thinking golf mk2 bbs but don't know if the design is too old!?

Get rally slagged up..

i was thinking about the whole motorsport/rally slag look but also like the ultra low cleaned look in the dub world.

incidentally, i like the shape of the pre-facelift cars better than the facelifted ones that you recommend. is the spec significantly better on the phase 2s ?

Not really that much better, they are just newer.

You can get a pre facelift L+K, top spec electric windows and air con on some.

I prefer pre facelift too I just went with my ex to buy a 45,000 mile 97(p) 1.6 GLXi in met black with FSSH for

what year did they facelift them ?

99 was the year they got face lifted.

Things such as a strut brace came standard from then, nicer dials etc. Plus they look nicer imo.

Go rally style, light pod etc. Nice. (Multispoke white rims too. OZ's maybe?)

Sounding like the project I didn't get round to doing - due to smashing it up. :thumbdwn:

yeah i like the sound of that. I've been trying to find pictures of the felcia kit cars they used to usin in the f2 rally championship ! Also trying to find pictures of a Yellow VR6 engined one that i remember seeing in a magazine.

IF i get one i don't know whether I'd go rally style or cleaned style (Debadged, 15" wheels, really low - that kind of thing.)

I like the sound of that smooth "Euro look" too. I just think the rally style will be easier to pull off effectively...

It was in Max Power I believe. Did have it as jpegs on my PC, but can't find them now :thumbdwn:

I don't think it would be that hard to pull off. Get some euro-look, golf style 15" wheels, drop it considerably, colour coded bumpers and de-badge it.

I do like the sound of the motorsport look though. Possibly get some speedlines or other motorsport wheels.

Just give me a copy of retro cars/performance vw and I'm away !

1998 was the facelift as we had a facelift S-reg one

That's right we had a new GLXi 98 on an (S). As far as I can remember the rally cars were only ever 1st generation Felicias. By 99 Skoda were using the Octavia??

yeah, thats what I thought. I wonder if you can get any specialist rally parts for them ? Did Skoda have a tuning division ?

Awesome GTI Did the conversion of the Yellow Felica with the VR Lump in it! Have some pics somewhere of it at GTI International a long time ago!

Wonder if it's still kicking around! That would be a very good wolf in sheeps clothing!!

Just had a look on the Autotrader Website!!! Not many below a grand!!! All nearly 2!!!

And some idiot dealer who want nearly 4.5K for a Felica Fun!!!!
