I was listening the original Bose sistem on Mazda 6 and was a dissapoint....I swear. The owner of the scrap yard is a friend of mine and he says is rubbish.

The sound is flat and a bit harsh whatever you do with the EQ.The sound with fader at 0 sounds more in the front and very little on the back speakers and the sub.You cannot hear the sub unless you know the car has one.

So I liked the sub for the spare wheel mounting and decided to give it a chance on my Pioneer HU .So talked to my friend and he says I can take all the Bose speakers if I change the oil and filters on his 2001 CLK Merc.So....deal was made.

I took only the sub,and leave the other speakers....but I can took them any time.

Bottom line, the sub on my car sounds much much better  than the original sistem....is hard to believe but is true

I have the logos to prove my words

  • Okay, so you have parasitic interference somewhere. There are two types of suppressor that can help combat this. One is a mains filter that you can put inline with the subwoofer power supply, the othe

  • You have 5 wires and forward on the loom youget 4.....that's because 3 signal wires (stereo) became 2 wires mono; the sub is mono. The thick wires are for power. To use your Oem stereo the best optio

  • Cheers buddy, it nice to not get too serious on this top top sound......I don't care about a banging top notch in your face sound and nor did the OP on what this thread is all about. Let's face it any

So you didn't post this link then?

Yes I did,  and if your whole point refer to this one specific add and speakers in it then i apologise for not getting your specific point to this..

I thought I was clear to folks that I fitted only the Sub bit and was not condoning folks buy the whole kit just posting a few links of what i found.

Perhaps you should of made your point specific to that add and I would of got you straight away buddy.

This whole thread is about the Sub side , a budget install that is what we fitted and it works.

:D

A ridiculously cheap install at that. Nothing to complain about at the price, since it will definitely thicken things up a bit.

The funny thing is, I have £1000's of pounds worth of aging car audio gear sat lying around, and apart from the rears, mine is still horribly standard. Far too lazy for my own good. Trouble is, I know that once I start, I'll spend months and months tweaking it, playing with tweeter phase, crossover points, and all sorts. Then I'll probably want to add a sub, when I can't afford to lose any boot space. I'm far too anal about audio. At least I'd refrain myself from trying to cram a valve amplifier into my car (but only because of the lack of a high voltage power supply). ;)

Grrrrrrrrr jus been outbid at last seconds on one the search continues:)

Hi, Sorry to bump this tread. Did you ever get rid of the thump from the Sub. I have the same issue after fitting 1. Thanks in advance :-)

:D  :D  No I haven;t ,I get used to it,if you find a solution please tell me

Solution for THUMP when a button is pressed on after market headunit.

It seems that after market headunits cut the audio to the rca outputs when a button is pressed, this then tells the Bose sub to turn off.

Once the headunit has completed the command ( eg source, sound mode, skip track etc) it then activates the rca audio output thus giving the thump.

You still get a tiny thump on switch on & switch off but its barely audible.

What I did was used a line output converter made buy Autoleads PC1-601 (links below)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Autoleads-PC1-601-convertor-convert-outputs/dp/B00131E0ME

http://reviews.halfords.com/4028/704734/reviews.htm

It went against all my better judgement because you would think its doing the same job as the rca outputs on the headunit but no.

I connected up to the rear speaker outputs behind the headunit (not using the rear speakers because there rubbish),

plugged in the rca lead that was going to the headunit, found an earth point in the foot well & TADA no thump.

Only 1 thing I have noticed is that if you plug both rca plugs in at the sub end you get slightly LESS bass than with 1 plugged in.

Hope this helps fellow Bose Subwoofer with after market headunit users out there.  :sun:

sooo.... I'll stay with my thump  :D

I thought I made a mistake wiring the sub,but I recheck everything and by my slim electric and electronic knowledge the wiring was right

Lately I play music from an Iphone wich is better than my last midrange smartphone and the sub sounds great,so deep and warm....love it !

The sound is great considering the cost. I've had some awesome systems in the past JL audio subs Phoenix gold amps nakamichi headunit with any issues, but hearing that thump every time I skipped track. I had to find a cure. So this is mine. :-)
