Internal Bike carrier (DIY)

Featured Replies

I had a search regarding internal bike racks when I picked up my Yeti a Month a go, but didn't like the idea of spending a couple of hundred quid on the Skoda one and I wanted something that would leave 4 seats so that I can take my bike on family holidays (the family won't ride with me) and also make it easier by only having the small middle seat to remove.

I finally had some free time today, so with a section of spur shelving I had in the shed and a fork mount I had previously used in my T5 van, I have come up with something that seems to work as I had hoped. A short road test and everything appeared secure.

I'm sure there are others out there that have done this, so I'm not expecting this to be a new idea, I'm just  pleased at how it turned out, so I thought I would share.

Sorry for the slightly blurred picture, didn't realised until I had uploaded it and as the bike is now packed away in the shed, I wasn't going to go back out to re photo.

Neat!

VERY smart, and well done in some ingenious improvisation

Nice bike :sun:

agreed...very neat but it does use up a lot of boot space at holiday time

Loads of space either side and even underneath. Luckily my wife packs light anyway :)

So does my wife. Sometimes she only takes 2 kitchen sinks.
