as above what is it? i pulled mine out as it rattles and it has 2 wires going to it what does this control?

I believe this is part of the climate control system. If I'm correct, it lets the system know if the sun is shining directly on the car which will mean the climate gets turned up.

Is it not the light sensor for the auto headlights?

Nope, cause mine has it with wires and i dont have auto lights, but i do have climate control

Nope it picks up that the sun is beaming in and adjusts the climate to compensate.

Cars with auto lights and/or wipers have the required sensor integrated into the windscreen, just being the rear view mirror.

That pic was the best ever - made me chuckle again!

There really isnt anything else that will top that....!
