the above video shows off the best feature of the Automatic Parking Assistant, getting out of a tight spot.

Sorry if it's been posted before.

Cheers I hadnt seen that one!

The best feature is that you don't have to press a button for the front or side sensors to activate when parking manually, my old Superb would only activate front or side if you had either pressed the button or had performed a reverse move first. The other day, I was in slow moving traffic and a biker went by a little too close for comfort and the near side sensors went ballistic! There is effectively a full 360° sensor coverage as there are two sensors on each side whereas the previous generation of park assist on the Superb omitted the rear side sensors as these were not required for parallel park but the new bay parking option requires the extra sensors.

I wondered about that when I parked in my garage after picking up my new Oct today. Was about to turn the sensors on, like I do with my old Oct. But the sensors was already activated.. :)

Congratulations on your new long awaited arrival! :-)

I picked up my car yesterday, så I can't say I've tried it much, but when I parked at work this morning I had to manually activate the front sensors.

I've got park assist on my current car and it works very well indeed and a few weeks ago I parked outside a pub, this woman was having a drink and she watched as the car parked itself in a space. She looked at me, the car, the pint of cider & the car, the cider and then got up & walked away looking a touch confused.

Those sensors are very good when you want them and alert you when a motorbike/ cyclist is trying to squeeze past but they can be a bit of a nuisance in nose to bumper traffic jams  :giggle:

Tried the park assist the other day on a tight spot in east London and it worked very well, unfortunately when I went to leave the space and use the auto assist, following the instructions to put the indicator on I instinctively put my hand on the wheel, which immediately cancels the operation and I had to drive out manually. What surprised me was how fast the wheel spins and the amount of 'dry steering' which you'd get told off for on a driving lesson!

Wonder what (if any) wear that adds to the power assisted steering or tyres?
